How will Dak adapt to a new offensive scheme?

we take that big hit, how much would that leave us with for this off season to spend?? What would be 2026's cap number for him which MAKES it easy to get him off the books??? (Please don't give coog all these numbers and words, I can't take it bud lol) make it simple!!
The can restructure CeeDee whose CAP hit is another $35 million, and give Parsons an extension and lower his CAP hit as well. The Cowboys look to be $4 million over the CAP right now, according to over the CAP. These two restructures should get them well under, at least enough to get a player or two.

I am not saying they will be competitive in 2025 but that's not my goal. The plan is to clear CAP space and start a rebuild in 2026. They can be competitive in 2027 if they draft well.

I think the Cowboys are going to have to bite the bullet eventually anyway. If Dak continues to slip, if he plays they lose, if they move on from him they lose. But this is what it takes to get better.

Dak is smart enough. He puts in the work. The real question is will we run things that suits him. Not all these hitches and stopping routes. Our offense needs more innovation. We need a coach that keeps the team focus on the main goal....winning.

thank you sir

ultimately this is why i think jerry hires kellen moore.
his relationship with dak and an offense he knows.
but if jerry were to hire somebody different...i think dak has been around long enough he'll figure it out.
he's had alot of coord's over his time here.
he's smart.
he'll figure it out.
i just doubt jerry does something different.
kmoore runs an offense dak pretty much knows.

It will have to be a simple offense. The coaches put in the offense that Dak was capable of running. Thats why it's boring and predictable.
Why does it have to be simple, Prescott capable of reading any defense that comes out?

Didn't Carroll have issues with both OC play caller ..and DC in Seattle ?
Honestly I have no idea, but with as long as he was there he probably had issues with every position at some point. His DCs were typically pretty good ones, OC seemed to be a bit of a revolving door once Bevell left

So two games a year apart is why he can't adjust to new systems? When I think of qb's adjusting to new systems, I look at the entire first season in that new scheme.
Dak blows, get over it . Everyone including the other Stans can see he is Slow, lacks arm strength , has Zero field awareness, is disliked by his own teammates ( CD and Micah's family arent posting for no reason ) , and is grossly overpaid .

Quit living in the past , and see thru the smoke and mirrors .

Dak is DONE

Yea, because we all know QB's that suck get voted runner-up MVP and All Pro... the same year. You should take a look at how those categories are voted on.

I expect the usual "Dak fans suck" rebuttal.

I think every quarterback limits the play calling that’s why you build it around the quarterback. But I think Prescott is done. His time is over they screwed it up just like Romo.
That is true Dak had a window of opportunity while the online was powerful and Zeke could run but Jerry didn't fill the other holes.

Now with mounting injuries lack of mobility no running game no ability to stop the run on defense.

An offensive line that needs a coach who can demand that the best players play not Jerry's pets.

Along with his own salary making it more difficult to fill the holes even if Jerry wanted to.

I believe the window has just about closed it's not nailed shut yet it remains to be seeing how he comes back from this injury.
But he's aging in dog years while we watch

I thought we had 5M in cap space.

A number of NFL executives and scouts reportedly believe Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones would be "open" to taking on the $104M dead cap hit, in order to trade Dak Prescott and secure Shedeur and Deion Sanders.

I'm not here to take anything from what Dak has accomplished, but the MVP/All Pro argument has grown pretty old already IMO. Dak had an excellent 2023, and its was probably the best stretch of football in his career. That said though its such a what have you done for me lately league, and hanging onto awards isn't a good argument more than a year later. Jason Garrett won coach of the year, but no one thinks of him as a great HC. Derek Carr, Carson Wentz, and Carson Palmer have all received 1st place votes for MVP, but no one thinks of them as great QBs. We could spend all day running down the list of guys who have made all pro only to be irrelevant or out of the league a year or two later.

THUNDERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!! So true, I heard fish mention this yesterday on his show about Dak just being 2nd in the MVP voting last year, ok so what, but how did he end his year when he got injured. He didn't play well, if he played well, we'd say ok and be hopeful. Going off his good years means nothing, it's just like if we make it to the playoffs one season, that's fine, what about the next season are we going to be good enough to do it and do it better????

What have you done for me lately league, perfectly said!!

Get me more info on this, this would HAVE to be a stipulation that Deion would want if he's coming

Over-the-CAP shows us with about $4.4 million over the CAP, effectively, which is after accounting for the rookie pool. Otherwise, were are $285k over the CAP. I am assuming the change is because they have rolled over to 2025 and the money in voidable years on certain contracts has been accounted for. I believe Brandin Cooks, DLaw and Zack Martin are in that category and the total amount is $22 million or so.

the 22 million will be what we have once they're off the books???

Over the CAP shows Brandin Cooks with $2 million in prorated bonus in 2025 and another $2 million in 2026, but the CAP hit shows $4 million in 2025. He would be off the books after this season.

DLaw has 1 voidable year (2025) and $7.445 million in prorated bonus. He too will be off the books in 2026 if he is not resigned to a new deal.

Zack Martin has 4 voidable years on his contracts and a total of $26.45 million over the 4 years, $10.65 million of it in 2025, according to Over-the-CAP and another $17 million in 2026. I am assuming the deal allows Dallas to take the CAP hit over two years. So unless Dallas chooses to take the full CAP hit in 2025, Martin will be $10 million in CAP money this year, and another $17 million next year. They did this with Martin last year when he complained about his contract.

I really do not like pushing money into voidable years and Dallas is not the worst offender for this. The Eagles have $418 million in CAP money in voidable contract years right now, almost all of it stemming from option bonuses to be paid out to 16 players.

Also, the Cowboys have to take an $8 million CAP hit for Michael Gallup who was a June 1 cut last year. He will be off the books in 2026 as well.

CeeDee has $23.2 million allocated in voidable years on his deal. That would be in 2029.

Donovan Wilson has $1.65 million in 2026, a voidable year in his contract.

The Cowboys have really not used this option in many of their contracts so far. The Eagles built it in upfront.

I hope the Cowboys stay away from this in the future. I think it makes things messy, but I understand why teams do it.
