Then to take it one step further.. how much of that is on coaching and how much is it on player cognizance? I cant believe they havent been coached on that.. but do the players always "remember" in the heat of battle?
Or what if as it turned out the Giants would've kept/moved a back in on that side of the formation before the snap? If you're the defender and your number is called to blitz there, do you still come knowing you'll have to get around the RB somehow? Or do you "cancel" it because you kinda know it'll probably be pointless to blitz there because if you, as a lone blitzer, dont actually get to the QB you might just as well stay back in coverage in the first place?
I wonder about these things with some of our guys.. like in the latter case, once their number is called, blitzing come hell or high water and then just getting picked off anyway and oweing to a better chance that a "good" play will be made against them.
