How Would a Cowboys Super Bowl Win/Loss in 2022 impact Your Life?

Hypothetical. I knocked on wood. No jinxes.

A win would be the sweetest of all. It feels better to fight adversity and come out on top imo. This team has been doubted, left for dead, and even mocked. Nobody thought we could do what we did with Prescott out. But we held our own with Rush. Nobody ever thought we would break the Brady curse. But we did. It seems we play better when backed into a corner. Personally, it would show that, just like in life, things are not determined on paper. A great or bad performance one week does not necessarily predict the next week. A Cowboys SB win would show mental toughness and resolve. I need resolve in my life. The ability to overcome adversity. Maybe my football team winning (Or getting close) it all could lead me to overcome the odds.

The great thing about our sport is that regular season success does not necessarily equate to a guaranteed title. It's also what can be so tragic. There are so many variables (Matchups, officiating, Injuries, coaching, and luck) that determine the outcome of a game. Simply having a more talented team on paper is not enough. Not in the cap era. Otherwise, the Rams annihilate the Patriots in Super Bowl 36. Patriots go 19-0. We get to the Super Bowl in 07. The best team isn't the team that always wins it.

The more success you have, the higher the expectations. To not meet those expectations hurts.

Losing a Super Bowl would hurt. It would not be devastating sans a Saints non call situation or Falcons type collapse. But it would hurt for a bit. Because if we get there, it will feel like we are a team of destiny. Sometimes, however, it does not work out that way.

So, how would a potential Cowboys SB win/loss this year impact you?
A Cowboys win in the Super Bowl, although it would be enjoyable for a short time, wouldn't affect my life in the slightest way at all.

I mention this from tine to time when it comes up in conversation. It wouldn’t change anything. I would have the same problems and blessings in March that I have now.

Of course I would like it, though.

Other than the $800,000 I would get off the 8-1 odds at beginning of season?
(just kidding, I think I've only done a sports bet once in my life)

People work out, train year-round. Just for a shot at being able to play. Again it’s a way of life for some.

A lot of people are giving you a PC answer, but I think this is a valid question.

I grew up a Cowboys fan, I personally have not seen them win a Super Bowl since I was in elementary school. The glory years are getting further and further away. So I am not going to sit here and talk like I wouldn't be over the moon if we ever get back. It's been 30 years, I think it would be fair to be excited. Getting to watch a Cowboys superbowl as an adult would be a lifetime memory for me. All the old heads in my family that watched the games with me over the years and taught me how to be a Cowboys fan, aren't here any more and would have wanted to see this moment. It'd be cool to say we finished the journey finally.

If they got all the way to the Super Bowl and lost, I think it would be pretty tough for the community to be honest. The Rangers losing game 6 is a moment that gets played probably 1-3 times a season. And that's baseball, with a team that isn't expected to win. There's simply no way to put that one to bed. Can you imagine the fallout from a Cowboys Super Bowl loss?

Nah I don't want to either.

A win.
It will mean 6 months of walking around proud. And many naysayers going back into the woodwork, or a change of attitude.
It also means time to move on to the 2023 season and getting better to repeat. But still be very happy.

A loss.
It will mean focusing on FA and the draft, but will still be happy they got there. It will hurt for a little while, but then time to move on.
However, the naysayers will thump their chest in a loss. They will focus all off-season on that loss, as opposed to be happy they made it to a SB.
The narrative will then focus on 28 years of NOT winning a SB.

It also depends how they played, poorly in a loss, or a sloppy win. Or a solid performance in a win or loss.
Did they dominate or get dominated.
Fans need or should take in those factors as well.

None at all. Just like this game, win, lose or draw, my life will go on. And I'll still be a fan of the same team next year.

Winning a super bowl makes almost every day a lot better until the following seasons playoffs or until the Cowboys are eliminated.
Then it's at 50% better for 5 years.
Losing a super bowl makes life miserable but it's still better then 30 other teams.

Now that I've contracted an aggressive Cancer and moving soon to Palliative Care, it would mean the WORLD to me...
Oh no! Get better bro. I had a friend with 4 types of cancer, all at once! She's getting better now. I know not everyone is the same, but your mental state and attitude can be crucial.
Best wishes, and peace to you my old friend.

My three sons all became Cowboys fans via osmosis. The oldest - Troy - was two when SB XXX was played; the youngest wasn't born yet. After all the years we've spent watching the Cowboys together, it would be wonderful to see them witness their Cowboys becoming champions again.

Guessing your wife named the next two?

I actually enjoy watching other teams play better than watching my own team, regardless of sport.

I get stressed out watching a team that I really want to win play.

I try to tell myself it's just a game, that these guys don't even know me, and don't root for ME to do well at MY job....but I just can't help it. It's silly. I agree with what everyone in here says logically, but I simply can't force myself to not get supremely invested in the outcome.

If this game goes badly today, I will be very bummed, and I really won't "enjoy" watching it....unless it's an early blowout and there's no more drama.
Same here -- it's too nerve wracking to watch if the game is close, can't really enjoy it until after we win and I'm watching the replay.

LOL. It was a collaborative effort, although there were no Emmitts, Michaels or Jays. :)

It would not change my life, but it would bring great pleasure...and bragging rights for a year. That's always nice...

If the outcome of a game impacts your life, then you don't have much of a life
