How would you feel about an 11-5 no playoffs season?

I'm not much of a thread starter but I really am interested in the responses.

Obviously nobody is going to be happy about missing the playoffs. That's not the point of this thread. I'm talking about how you would feel about the state of the team and it's immediate future.

Let's say the Cowboys win 2 of the next 3 games. Beat the Eagles, lose to the Colts, beat the Commanders. Or whatever way you want to do it. But they lose the tiebreakers for the division and wild card. They sit at home at 11-5. This is a pretty rare happening in the NFL.

What's your reaction? Is this the same team that can't close the deal and just misses the playoffs? Like every other year in recent memory? The record doesn't matter, all that matters is they came up short again?

Or was it just a flukey season, the team went 5-2 down the stretch, clear progress has been made and this is merely a case of some bad luck? No 11-5 team should ever be sitting at home watching a 7-9 division winner? This was a clear step forward towards 2015?

I say 11-5 and no playoffs. You say?

I ask because I really don't know.

I'd feel both good and bad about it. It is way better (already) that I thought the team would do. It would also net us a bad spot in the 1st round with nothing to show for it.

IMO the team will have taken a step forward.. You can't deny that.

How they took their step forward has more to do with just imposing our will in the run game and I believe schematically we still don't get game day advantages from our coaches.

If we break the bank on Murray and Dez that will likely weaken our overall roster and I think we have to have an amazing roster to ever get to where we want to be with this coach.

So im for keeping Jason Garrett but if Jim Harbaugh or another upgrade were to become available then Dallas should make the move and upgrade.

Terrible.... Tourney or Bust...

But my feelings doesn't reflect on the team... if they've played hard, and showed direction.. than we try to add to the momentum next season...

If we miss but go 11-5, Garrett has to be extended even though I don't like him. It will depend on how we go out. If Philly embarrasses us again, it will take a few weeks for me to calm down. Dallas could go out and spank Indy, who knows. But, if we lose two of the next three and Wash is one of them......not sure how I will handle that.

Now, my real question is......is there a big difference in 8-wins last season versus 11 this year since we faced the AFC South instead of the beasts in the AFC West? Probably not, just thought I would put it out there.

When it is all said and done, if we win 11 but get sent home.....can't really complain, was a good season despite some major obstacles.

pissed that we screwed around with the 1st Commanders game which ended up being the reason for the loss to the cardinals.

Inept coaching is what blew those and I would still want Garrett FIRED!

Its better than 8-8 but still empty if no playoffs.

There are things to be excited about, like the OL for the long term future. But does Murray come back? If not, can he be replaced as easily as so many think? I think prob not so easily replaced.

I think we hit big on Zack Martin and he is better than anyone thot he would be. Great pick, but we are lucky he is better than we thot he would be. I say this because the pro Red crowd is all giddy about the Process as if the Process is solely responsible for our OL play. I think we lucked into Zack and thats perfectly fine because its what happens sometimes. Its not a knock on Red, just the way it is.

We still have needs at WR. What about QB going forward? Whats the plan post Romo? What about the defense? If we are going to compete for anything that really matters we got a lot of work to do on that side of the ball.

Even 11-5 doesnt answer a whole lotta questions going forward IMO, but Im certainly enjoying the ride so far.

I predicted that the Cowboys would go 7-9 before the season so my personal expectations have already been exceeded, with that said, that terrible loss to the Commanders would be the reason that they miss the playoffs yet again. 11 wins in a normal year would get you in, but when you see the other teams around you with the same record, you have to play better, and if they do indeed miss the playoffs with 11 wins, then it will be a bit of a disappointment that the Washington game would be the reason for it.

I disagree...

I think we're loaded at receiver.. We need to scheme better.

disappointed of course of another year of no playoffs....but progress has been made and at least 2015 we can at least have hope to build on.

I do say if that happens watch out FA....I think JJ will break the bank in trying to get those couple of pieces to put us in real contention for a SB. He knows not only does Romo only have so much time left.....but so does he.
