How would you feel about an 11-5 no playoffs season?

It would suck royally, but it would indicate progress and Garrett would deserve to be extended. A coach who can win 11 games consistently is going to be in the playoffs a lot.

I thought before the season that they had a chance to be better than 8-8, but I never thought they could be Super Bowl contenders. Regardless of making the playoffs, it still seems unlikely that they would make it to the SB.

I think 11-5 would be great progress. My target for real playoff success was 2015 before this season and that still where I see the best chances for this team. They need to mininimize changes this offseason and add a couple of key free agents. If Romo's back is better next season then the sky is the limit.

It would hurt my feelings that we missed the playoffs and I would be pissed that the stupid playoff format. But i would be happy because I have enjoyed watching us play this whole season

If we miss but go 11-5, Garrett has to be extended even though I don't like him. It will depend on how we go out. If Philly embarrasses us again, it will take a few weeks for me to calm down. Dallas could go out and spank Indy, who knows. But, if we lose two of the next three and Wash is one of them......not sure how I will handle that.

Now, my real question is......is there a big difference in 8-wins last season versus 11 this year since we faced the AFC South instead of the beasts in the AFC West? Probably not, just thought I would put it out there.

When it is all said and done, if we win 11 but get sent home.....can't really complain, was a good season despite some major obstacles.
On the flip side, we got the NFC West this year...to me that balances that argument out.

I have learned that each season is unique and very difficult to use to predict the future. I would say that I will feel disappointed, but also happy that at least I enjoyed this season more than the last 3 and that there are building blocks in place. I learned after 2009 that just because you have success doesn't mean that it will be sustainable. I thought they would come out in 2010 very hungry to build on a playoff win and get better...and Wade got fired. It was incredibly ridiculous.

I think 11-5 is reflective of a very easy schedule, a very strong offense and an over-performing defense. I enjoyed watching it, but I do not count on those same things for next year. One offseason will not significantly improve this defense, and it's going to be tough to have an offense like this for yet another year. Murray leaving is a risk, even if you think it's the line that earns his success - if we are wrong, that hurts. I think that we have the best case to improve in the NFCE compared to other teams, but that isn't guaranteed.

11-5 after the last several years feels really good only compared to the crap that this team has been since 2007. As they talk about stringing together wins within the season, this team needs to string together winning seasons now. If we just go back to meh, this season is meaningless.

mixed emotions.....improved record certainly translates to an improved team but the end result is still the same. My mixed emotions are compounded though because of some much uncertainty we face this offseason in the way of critical FA, unsigned coaches, etc. When all shakes out, there's a real possibility we could take a couple steps back when 2015 season begins!!

I think as long as we have this OL and we actually put an emphasis on running the ball then we can continue to produce similar results.

Regardless if Murray and the coaches leave.

At 11-5 it would be flukey and a step forward. The questions would surround our free agents and coordinators before we could speculate on building off it.

I would welcome 11-5 because it would exhibit progress where no progress was forecasted or anticipated given the lack of talent on defense. This is something the team can build upon for next year with a good draft and shrewd FA acquisitions.

I don't know that our defense can't be significantly improved in one offseason. Note that I didn't say the could go from bad to great in one year, just that they can significantly improve. Whether you agree that Lee can be counted on or not, the opportunity is there for him to make a big difference at LB next year. I hope we keep RoMac and if we do, I think a full offseason will help him come back to be a major force next year. None of us know how the draft will pan out, but I would hope that they will be looking at finding a bonafide DE and/or DLineman and/or CB and/or Safety. We may also get some help in FA. Really, we're so weak in just about every area on defense that we can't help but improve significantly. Now will it all get fixed in this one offseason? No. But it should significantly improve. Just my 2 cents.

I think we have benefited a lot this year from the parity in the NFL. I'll know more based on what happens in the next Philly game.

How would folks feel about a 10-6 season with losses to Philly and Indy and a meaningless win over the Commanders to close the season?

Anyone disappointed in a 11-5 season with no playoffs should be disappointed in the playoff structure and not the team.

11-5 is a great season.

I am disappointed in the playoff structure. Very much so.

Does one season indicate progress? Wade Phillips went 13-3 his first year hear. What happened in 2008? We have only 1 win against a winning opponent. We have had a cupcake schedule this year.

It would be an excellent season with a bit of bad fortune.

My sour taste would be knowing that, despite their awful season, Commander fans would have the satisfaction of knowing they knocked Dallas out of the playoffs on the road with Colt McCoy.

That's how I feel. This team started 6-1 and has been .500 pretty much since. If we lose to Philly again or even the Deadskins again, no way I would feel good about this season. Also just because we end up 11-5 doesn't mean anything for next season.
