How'd Micah do yesterday?

He can cause the most havoc as a lb, preventing offenses from knowing what he's going to do.

"Average at best in coverage" ... I'll ignore the ignorance of that statement ... You think rookies don't struggle in coverage? You don't piss away the potential of a game changer because he's not the lb version of deion sanders AS A ROOKIE.

Move him to end full-time and watch the production go down and the fatigue/injuries go up

Coverage is the only thing I see as a criticism of Parsons game at LB... I'll take it. In camp Micah was making INTs n PBUs in coverage, and didn't seem to have an issue.

4 games in, patience is a virtue... I'm not betting against #11 being a good cover backer even if it takes a while. He's only played 2 at LB.

Average at best? His mere presence in the A gap and the pressure from RG94 caused the first Diggs interception, he had a sack, and almost got another one. His jersey looked like it was ran over by a row of 18 wheelers. The kid balled out and is insane.

That guy joined about a month ago and has been talking nonsense.

He needs to play coverage sometimes. The benefit of Parsons is that you should be able to move him around and allow him to pressure, but you should also be deploying him in unique ways. You just have to call them the right way.

I believe this team needs to start considering exotic looks into their blitz package. Bring back some fire-zone blitz and other unique punches every couple of games.
He will be put into coverage situations. But there are guys like Cox and Neal that I think are better suited for that at this point. But he’s certainly a chess piece that you just have to find creative ways to utilize.

He’s a linebacker bro, there’s no such thing as a lockdown coverage linebacker - he’s as good as any LB in the league in coverage SERIOUSLY. If you’re nit picking Micah for his coverage you’re a special kind of weird.
Jordan Hicks is pretty much a lockdown ILB. There have been guys. Bobby Wagner in his prime. Lee in his prime. Cox has that skill set.

He was average at best in coverage, good at read and react against the run, missed a tackle in deep tampa 2 coverage which led to a big play.

He should be a full time OLB, pass rusher, he is elite at that... there were 3 plays where he rushed up the gut and got held (no call) but led to sacks from Odighizuwa, Golston and Basham... but Parsons definitely doesn't have the elite core MLB skillset... at least not yet. His big flaw right now is coverage. Play Cox more, IMO. Less Smith/LVE.
:hammer:

Idk why people are freaking out about your observation. It seemed spot on to me.

B/c he didn't say Micah was headed to the HoF, obv.

I made this observation earlier after going back and watching #11 on every play in between watching our center's play on offense: Parsons had a decent game, but he made some mistakes, even when he lined up on the end. No big deal...he's a rookie and a stud. He's not LT, nor should anyone expect him to be. Sunday was his 3rd best game, and I'm not taking anything away from him. Glad we have him locked up.

Show me proof of what you’re talking about because I think you’re talking out of your ***. Hicks is dog crap compared to Micah Parsons, Wagner was never a lockdown coverage guy and neither was Lee - not even close. Who is Cox? I know you aren’t talking about Jabril Cox that sits on our bench.

This guy has transformed this defense from the worst defense I’ve ever seen in my life (last year) to a defense that QBs fear, and I have video evidence to support this. Show me yours and I’ll show you mine. Until then stop making up stuff that isn’t true.

Hicks is one of the best coverage LBs in the NFL for a long time now. Philly messed up by letting him walk. Arizona's D (and O) are championship contending this year, very scary squad.

Hicks doesn't hold a candle to Parsons in pass rushing and run defense... Parsons doesn't hold a candle to Hicks in coverage. How many PBUs and INTs does Parsons have (discounting tips at the line of scrimmage). Simply put, Parsons looks very green when he's not playing from close to the LOS.

Jabril Cox has been comp'ed to Jordan Hicks for a very good reason. Decent in run defense, but isn't going to be some thumper or pass rusher like Parsons. Main advantage is Cox's ability to lock down TEs and scatbacks and lock down intermediate zones and be one of the best ball hawks in the league at his position. Jordan Hicks.

Yea, Lee was *never* a lockdown LB. He excelled in zone coverage but was no where near lockdown

Obviously I saw the sack, and they were moving him around a bit, but overall I didn't focus on him and not sure how well he performed in a more traditional mlb role.

Insight?

He was great. All over the place with a lot of blitzing up the middle from the linebacker position and creating havoc.

YOU have no clue about football.

I'm as homer as it gets, but Parsons is green in zone coverage at this stage of his career. Doesn't mean he won't improve, but if he's an All Pro at rushing the passer, why waste him dropping deep?

Green in coverage? What is that supposed to mean he is a rookie?

Rewatch the game. Parsons does a good job in zone and is filling the hole and blitzing up the middle all game long.

So he can improve

Catch, if you put him as an outside rusher full-time you waste away a rare talent that can be used, exceptionally, in a variety of ways that makes the whole defense better. Inside, outside, LB, de, coverage etc... Yes, he should be doing it all. You put him at DE full-time and all you need is a rb to chip him every pass play to neutralize him. Move him around and keep the offense guessing. It's RARE to have a player you can do that with, why the hell waste it?

Do you even know what "coverage" means? Seriously...

People aren’t paying as close attention as you are. I wouldn’t worry about it.

You point out a good players obvious CURRENT weakness and people on here who have no clue will think you’re a moron.

I think you’re being kind with how he positions himself against the run when at LB. I don’t think he’s reading his keys all that well and just takes himself out of the play against the run.

Anything on the LOS and he’s phenomenal.

He needs to rush and rush a lot. Anytime he’s not rushing it’s a win for the Offense unless we do some kind of Zone blitz that causes confusion.

If they come out in a multiple TE set or have a fullback then I’m all for letting him play linebacker.

Any 3 or 4 WR sets I want him up on the LOS somewhere rushing the passer.

That’s what makes him special and what has changed our defense.
