Now that we understand each other let me tell you a little about myself...
- the Skins are probally the best team in the world.
- The Pies just seem to get lucky...over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.
- But it's a new dawn and a new day....a change is gonna come...

Hey you are alright, but the change already came or maybe you had not noticed just how much better the Boys will be this year. However that's ok because you will get to see first hand when we play your Skins.

Now it would be real news if the Skins really did get good, but don't kid your self they are not good enough yet!

I can only go by what I see here and Hos is far and way smoking folks on this board. Tho, Brain is making some serious inroads into his lead.

That is precisely what I am saying... he did not cross the picket line. You are probably too young to remember anyway, so go look it up.

I was very young but i still remember watching a cowboys game where when Walker scored his own fans booed him and i remember asking my dad "why"

If i recall correctly Walker was one of the players that did not join the players union in the strike...i will research this and get back to you.

And in 87' replacement players were used for a portion of the regular season. It takes pretty good coaching to bring in a bunch of no names and turn them into instant winners. IMO it's harder to do that then it is to take a bunch of superstars to the bowl.

Now in 83' (L) and in 91' (W) we proved we were no strike team fluke...explain those....

replacement players or not... we'd still whoop the redskunks twice a year...LOL...

I betcha you like it here on this board... We're all a bunch of cool cats bucko.

Danny and Randy White and Don Smerek crossed the picket line on their own. Tony Dorsett was blackmailed into playing by Tex Schramm (his contract was worded to royally punish Tony if he held out any games).

Until then Dorsett had been a vocal proponent of the strike and slammed anyone who crossed the picket line. Randy White said he was going to play because he signed a contract to play and Tony lit into Randy calling him "Captain Scab".

Striking is a cultural thing in Dallas which tends to be pro-management, while in Pittsburgh where Dorsett was from striking was often the only option of many employed in the city.

Some believed the '82 strike did more to undermine Danny White's career than any other factor. White was a vocal opponent of striking, while Gary Hogeboom was "with the players". That issue seriously divided the Dallas locker room.

ROTFLMAO... you're probably the hacker who stripped me of 5568 posts over on the Ranch, when I was just 3 posts short of goin' over 10,000...

Doesn't matter, I'll bet I've still got you beat when it comes to BANDWIDTH expended... one of my draft analyses is longer than any 25 of your posts... :D

Well I'm telling you that you do NOT recall correctly... no need to research unless you want to waste your time learning what I have already told you.

You know they say sucking on a pacifier can affect hearing ability, so maybe that was the problem back then?? You just mistook "Dorsett" for "Walker"? That wouldn't be hard to do, would it?

Here is a quote that i got from a smaller Cowboys website...

After a 1-1 start the NFL went on strike and continued the season with replacement players. However, during these games the Cowboys had an advantage as most of the Cowboys top players crossed the picket line. The Cowboys easily won their first 2 scab games, but in the final game the Cowboys regulars were stunned by a group of Washington Commanders replacements on a Monday Night at Texas Stadium. When the regulars returned the Cowboys weaknesses were exposed as they lost 6 of their next 8. The Cowboys would win their final 2 games of the season, but still finished with a 7-8 record.

Both Walker and Dorsett played in 12 games that year. I would think that one of them would have played in more games than the other had one played through the strike and one didn't. I'm not saying you're wrong, i was only 9 years old at the time...and i could have sworn that it was Walker i saw score a TD and had the Pie fans booing him. I could be wrong though because i could not find any specific info on it.

Just as a side note, in case some did not know...That game that washington replacement players beat the cowboys..... was what the movie the Replacements was based on.

Take my word for it... as a Cowboys fan, you know I am being honest. What reason do I have to lie?? You are misinformed if you think that Herschel Walker played in the replacement games, because he did not. Walker became the starting tailback against New England that year with Timmy Newsome at fullback. Herschel promptly busted New England open in overtime with a 60 yard run to win the game in overtime. Dorsett only played in 12 games because he was hurt that year. Walker played in 12 games because noone played in week 3, and weeks 4, 5, and 6 were strike games.
