A professional sports league and a professional sports league season are carefully and through years of tweaking set up to achieve a certain goal; parity, giving each team a fair chance, whatever you want to call it. Argue if it is done the right way, fine. But one cannot deny that there are many things set up to achieve these goals. There is the draft, the collective bargaining contracts, the (balanced) schedules, rules about the injured list, home field advantage based on records, and lots, lots more. Even though a strike may have been seen over the horizon no one could know exactly when. To suddenly mid season say - ok this is it, we stop here and whoever is in first stays in first and gets home field throughout the playoffs - is terribly unfair. What about teams who had yet to face the easy part of their schedule? What about teams who were just about to have a main player come off the d.l.? what about many things? And dont get me started on scab players, the question is not how difficult it is to coach them, the question is fairness. Because the Commanders grave diggers and insurance salemen and cab drivers happened to be able to be better than other teams means they get to be champions? It isnt as if these guys were in some NFL minor league, they were signed off the street. What a fluke? And talking about flukes tell me how good Timmy Smith and Doug Williams were in other seasons? As for 1991, there was a little extremely brief arrangement called plan B free agency which came and went faster than any fan was able to understand how it worked, but the skins were able to master it for whatever reason. What did they have 14 plan B players that year? I give them much more credit for 91 then 82 or 87. I happen to think the 83 skins team was the best skins team ever and they should have beaten the Raiders, they were better. All I am saying is a skins fan has no right to say that the Cowboys are luckier than the skins. That is wrong plain and simple. We lost in 66, 67, 70, 75, 78 and 81 to GREAT teams by 4 or fewer points (ok the Colts werent great). yeah real lucky! Dude you should retract the lucky comment, no hard feelings, good luck on your season and all but that was just silly.

I see your position. But let me clear up a misunderstanding...

If I were to post something like "The Cowboys just get lucky every year and barely beat us..." Then i could see where i would ruffle some cowfeathers. But by posting "The Pies just get lucky over and over and over and over and over and over" You gotta since the sarcasim there. Of course the Pies can't be THAT lucky. It was just a joke that i thought was blantantly obvious.

But then you took your shot and sincerely called us lucky. If it's one thing the Skins are NOT it's lucky. My main point is that...sure...by cutting off the season week 9 you cut off any chance of a late surge by another team. But that same team went through the playoffs and super bowl like any other team in league history. The playoffs were not tampered with. And that very same team made it to the bowl the following year in a full season. So luck had no part in it.

87' is your best arguement but asking what did Williams and Smith do afterwards is a moot point. what did most of our players do afterwards? Our team that year beat the best teams in the NFC in the playoffs and then proceeded to beat the best team in the AFC in Denver and young Elway. And we didn't just beat them, we completely destroyed them. Luck played no part in those playoff games and in that super bowl. Sure you could argue that who cares if our bums were better than yours...and you're right to a degree, but it still took great coaching to put together 2 winning teams in 1 year. A winning replacement team and a winning professional team.

TIO,

Up to Now, I thought you were in control, but read your Own qUestion and replace "anti-Eagle" with "Anti-Cowboz." Now answer your own question, because I'm not going to humor you.

Look at the banner on the page. COWBOYSZONE

Ok, I looked at it! It's a nice banner -- very attractive. I don't have any hangups about the banner. What's your point? You look at it ...

Are you deliberately being ignorant?

That is a Cowboy Calvin urinating on an Eagles logo.

And this is offensive how?

And BTW, isn't that disgusting picture above a bit too large? I am tired of seeing it clog up my screen.

I think people would care because this is a cowboys message board, run by cowboy fan, to discuss primarily the cowboys. The eagles happen to be loathed by the cowboys. THat simple.

If ignorance is having common sense, then I guess your answer is Yes!

If you don't Understand how urination in an avatar is offensive, then ask some of the ladies on the board LTN, WG, Princess. I'm sure they get the point about defacing an Eagle logo, but at what expense. What's next, defacation?

I know I'm pushing the envelope a bit on the pix size, but I've seen equivalent sized pix by Others. So don't give me the ignorant trip.

ok, lets ask them and if they consider it offensive. and most people don't post the pic after every post.

ok, lets ask them and if they consider it offensive ...really means ...

ok, Let's ask some of my fellow fans (gender excluded) who I know will back me up because (and they hate Eagle fans) you are just an Eagles fan and very few (if any) on this board would back up an Eagles fan on any subject -- regardless of the ethics.

Yeah, I'm sure those responses would be purely objective.

get some w/o the pix ...

Speak for yourself. Personally I don't go in much for the scatological references or the bodily function avatars. But this is a freaking sports board.
There is little as innocuous as those avatars. Btw, innocuous = harmless.

I know I'm pushing the envelope a bit on the pix size, but I've seen equivalent sized pix by Others. So don't give me the ignorant trip.

That pic size is way over the top. I'd love to have one that big of Terry Glenn in my avatar, but I don't kid myself the rest of the board membership is as enthralled as I am. And he is a Cowboys player.

But such considerations obviously don't trouble you.

Well since my opinion was requested, I honestly don't have a problem with a lil crude humor like this... http://img.***BLOCKED***/albums/v628/cowboyszone/pee_iggles.gif

and like this... :disseags:

and like this...:gassy3:

and like this..:gassy2:

I could prolly get even more crude, but it messes up my lady-like image I try to project. :)

Seriously, these posts about urinating avs and obnoxious Eagle pics w/"Get Some" after them do get more than a lil annoying. But if I don't like something, either I do the adult thing and ignore it or I PM one of the mods, but I don't want to call posters out on the main board. It messes up my happy feelings for the board and its members.

I'm not going to defend my Tio or anybody else who chooses to get caught up in this petty back and forth you guys going on, but one thing to be remembered is that this is a 'boys board and your an eagle fan. As rivals and such, I'm going to always lean towards the blue and silver.

The fact your a senior member just means you post a lot. There's no special privileges for being a high poster unless your Hos who's on a mission to break the world record for message board posting...:D

Are you saying Walker didn't play alongside the replacement players while the rest of the league was on strike?
That is precisely what I am saying... he did not cross the picket line. You are probably too young to remember anyway, so go look it up.

TIO,

Uncertain if you've been following, but two of the ladies have commented on this subject. Seriously Tio, there's no right or wrong on this ...and this is my last post on the subject -- I'll back away and get back to football.

LTN comments: Personally I don't go in much for the scatological references or the bodily function avatars.

WG comments: Seriously, these posts about urinating avs and obnoxious Eagle pics w/"Get Some" after them do get more than a lil annoying.

Princess comments: Has not commented yet.

The poster will probably keep the avatar, just wanted him to be cognizant (aware) that ladies are present (no matter how tough they sound) -- they should still be respected.

Personally, I think this site has a high standard in ethics (compared to some I've seen). Some posters get carried away with their flames -- I try to maintain control regardless of how flammable the posters are toward Eagle fans. It's not easy sometimes, but that goes with the territory.

BTW, I Intend to tone down my BIG PIXs:eek::

It pains me to admit that a Skins fan is right but...As a Spurs fan who takes offense to any slight of their first championship during the lockout year, I have to agree. Skins won the playoffs and the Super Bowl those years, the titles are legit and should not be considered "lucky"

They are reletively less legit than all non-strike-year championships
