Where to begin? I surely expected a lot more from our OL when he got here. Maybe he just needs another year to teach them his philosphy of run and pass blocking.

I just don't understand why on earth our OL is so terrible.

We got FA and our C going to the pro-bowl. Davis is a beast at right guard. Columbo isn't a slouch.

For some odd reason that line didnt do crap this year.

They can't pass protect worth beans. Something is wrong. Either they just aren't smart enough for the calls or they aren't as good as we thought they were. Is it coaching?

I don't think I've ever seen an O-line play worse that ours in the last month of the season. I just don't get it.

Flozell sucks! Without Kosier, the Cowboys really struggled.

it goes beyond the Oline to Garrett's scheme

he has them blocking for too long

Even when they run block they stink. They can't open up any holes that I have seen.

Be thankful Choice is as good as he is. He makes far to many necessary moves in the backfield before he skoots through the line.

He also has to get small wayyyy to much.

It's not that at all. It's about not picking up blitzers. Simple things, like picking up the inside blitzer and everyone shifting inside, with the back picking up the outside guy. They just don't do it at all.

Because the offensive game-calling doesn't afford them any consistency. They are in shot-gun all day long, trying to get their huge bodies up all the time. They very rarely move forward and Jason Garrett is far from operating any tempo for them to grind out the opposing lines. Also, Houck isn't the one that calls the run-plays to the side of Proctor. In 2007, prior to injury, Ronnie Brown was averaging 5.1 YPC in seven games, with an average of 86 YPG on that pathetic offense that was the Dolphins.

I don't believe our whole line collapses like it did because Kosier was out.

This team has some real problems at O line, and Houck is deserves a big chunk of the blame.

max protect, so that they dont' have to shift outside, and run 3-step drops

Garrett could have done so much to alleviate the strain

i think its safe to say that our biggest problem this year was the play of
the Offensive line.

Romo never had time to get comfortable, often he got killed.

Our run game, while exciting at times was never consistent.

Our defense had to stay on the field too much due to the offense
having 3 and outs.

Games are won up front...this year we didnt do it.

Yes we had other problems, but the o-line play to me was the biggest weakness.

Hell, we ran two and three TE sets constantly.

Garrett doesn't know what a 3-step drop is.

It collapsed last year in the play-offs against the Giants. It looked horrible when Bledsoe was in. It suddenly became the real-deal when Romo was inserted into the line-up and made plays on it's feet....

the line can't hold up when the QB doesn't get rid of the ball, esp. a big line that is exposed to speed

the biggest case was when Colombo gave up a sack in '06, but Bill credited it to Bledsoe, because he pats the ball and steps into the rush

The play of the OL is exactly why Garrett isn't ready to be a head-coach. His mind seems, as of yet, not capable to see the full picture of what is going on. He relied on the feet of Romo and TO getting behind safeties, and if that didn't work, check it off to Witten....

Do you guys remember earlier in the year, these comments?

  • Romo has all day to stand back there behind what is arguable the best OL in football.
  • If Romo has that much time to stand behind that line, he will complete pass after pass all day.
  • That line is enormous and they just maul you.
Somewhere the wheels fell off and I can't put my finger on it.

We used to make teams PAYYYY for blitzing us. They paid dearly for it and it made them stop.

The last half of this years OL looks like the Cowboys OL in the last half of the seasn last year, especially the NY game. Ugh!

We couldn't stop anyone and the blitz KILLED them. It happened again this year. We started out great. The PP was there and even the run blocking was good.

Then BAM! I don't know what changed.

remember the blitz by Dawkins that forced Romo into the fumble... opposing teams would just blow by this line with speed... everybody knew we were going to pass and go vertical... teams had enough time to get to Romo, despite his ability to move in the pocket...

The only game in which the Cowboys flat out dominated was the Browns... every game after that, I witnessed protection after protection break-down, and Romo keeping plays alive with his feet...

Then I am starting to agree w/ Sarge. I think each and everyone of them are overrated.
