Leupke can do it all. Pass block, block up in the hole, catch the ball, run with it. He can be a great asset to this team if used properly.

If Moore or Garrett or Linehan were still here, yes I agree.
Maybe MM will be different. Didn’t he make good use of FB at GB. Although the NFL has changed some since then.

I guess we will see that happens in TC. It is all we can do it wait and see. Otherwise we just have our off season and speculation. Which is what we are here for anyway.

We have about 5 weeks left to do so. Should be fun and hopefully it will seem to go by quick.

Although from this discussion and others, it seems that Leupke is a legit RB in his own right, 6 yards per carry in college. I mean, ignoring all else, he's pretty good out of the backfield. What's more he can turn the lead draw into a fake, then be wide open when backers converge to stop the run.

Johnston played for Syracuse when they were a ranked team with some formidable opponents like LSU and Ohio State. I would say that's a higher difficulty level than the likes of South Dakota State or Western Illinois.

It seems to me that there would be a reason one was undrafted while the other was the 39th pick overall in his draft. I know the RB market has less value these days but certainly not that less.

I'm always skeptical when a rookie free agent is being compared to premium draft pick.

Anderson was one of the few playmakers of those early mid 2000s.

Ok, not trying to be contentious here... I've seen nothing to say that Leupke is great/good/adequate/substandard in pass protection, just trying to understand.

I read several saying he needed to work on pass protection. That doesn’t mean he can’t learn but NFL blitzes are complex and picking up the right guy isn’t easy. As a runner and reciever I think he can make an impact right away but as a blocker it appears he has a lot to learn. Most backs do coming out of college though

The key is gonna be using all the weapons and being unpredictable in how you use them
We have weapons at every level but you can’t just use the backs as a dump off target. Use every position and force defenses to play run/pass and defend everyone. Find the open man and move the ball

I love the Luepke signing and think his skill set could fit our needs IF he can play at this level, but he has yet to wear shoulder pads at the NFL level and is an UDFA. It's more likely he doesn't make the roster than becomes half the player Moose was. But, again, love the Luepke move as we sit here today

No, its not just learning who to block. You still have to be able to do it, even if you know exactly who it is you are supposed to block.

Of course they do. I didn't say otherwise and more make it with the Cowboys than with most teams. But many, many more don't ever make an NFL game day roster
