the one problem no one seems to mention is that we will now have to go long at the WR position. This injury to HUrd is going to cost us a good player on this roster. It may be Brown, Bowen or Oglesby.

Yes, and you can count out a 3rd QB.

Wade is just the biggest dope to even be playing any starters in this game. What a joke. Especially at WR. Yeah, let's play our starting WR's in a meaningless game. At a position we are already thin at. What a freaking Texas idiot. Him and George Bush should go bowling together.

Is clayton good?

He had a 1200 yard rookie year(2004) then injuries and what i would call uninspired play added up to 87 catches and 1029 yards in 3 years (2005-2007). He has a lot to prove.

From USA Today.

Michael Clayton started the Bucs' third preseason game at flanker and caught two passes for 22 yards and a touchdown.
clear.gif
Maurice Stovall was at split end with Joey Galloway still out. Clayton looks like a decent bet to open as a starter, but he will rotate with Ike Hilliard and Stovall, limiting his ceiling. His job also may not last long.

Of Michael Clayton's training camp performance, Bucs coach Jon Gruden says "What I’ve seen is five or six consecutive days where he’s put his fist down and said, ‘I’m a go-to receiver.’"
clear.gif
"If he continues to do that, he’s going to be a big part of this offense again," Gruden said. All Gruden compliments should be taken lightly, but Clayton has gotten good reviews throughout the offseason. He's a poor bet to come close to what he did as a rookie, but Clayton has a legit chance to start.

Michael Clayton has been targeted just 53 times per season since seeing 122 balls thrown his way as a rookie in 2004.
clear.gif
Clayton, who's often been hurt ever since, promises that he has "no nagging injuries" remaining. He is in the mix to start at flanker for Tampa Bay this year. The competition should heat up between him, Antonio Bryant, Ike Hilliard, and Maurice Stovall in training camp. Hilliard is the incumbent.

knowing the Bucs, i imagine the asking price for Clayton is probably too high.

If the Cowboys are going to trade for a WR, why not go all out? Hell, trade the first round pick for the best WR they can get

I'm all for Anquain and Roy! I say trade two or three picks for either one. Super bowl of bust. Once we win it...the draft picks will be forgotten. Plus we are stacked right now for years...every where but receiver.....but some on this board will say that we still need to sign Canty, and so and so...blah blah blah......win now...figure out how to pay for it later!

I agree. They will probably be able to get Bartel onto the practice squad.

no doubt man. The Cowboys should do everything they can to make a run now. They are close.

I dont know why they would hold on to their 1st round pick when they could get a top notch veteran WR with it. Dallas will probably use the pick on a WR anyway.

As if this was all in his big plan. Hurd needed the work and you can't coach injuries. I assume your not from Texas????

Again... IF T.O. and Crayton can stay healthy until these guys come back, we'll be fine at WR.
This might be the dumbest thing I've heard ever!
Trust me, you're ignorant.

You obviously know nothing about the team and their offensive tendencies if you think a loss of our #3 WR is a devastating blow.

Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th WRs are currently hurt.

T.O., Crayton, and Witten caught a combined 227 passes last season.

Our top 2 RBs caught a combined 67 passes. And we have a better receiving RB (Felix) replacing Julius Jones.

Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th WRs caught a combined 24 passes. That's it... 24.

Do I need to remind you how successful our offense was last season?

IF...

IF...

IF... T.O. and Crayton stay healthy, we'll be fine at WR.

And assuming Stanback doesn't go on IR (and he said he'll try playing through it), these guys should ALL be back before midseason.

This season is starting to look a lot like the 2004 season. High hopes as we started the preseason only to have us lose Quincy Carter to drugs and we lose Woodson, Julius Jones and Terry Glenn to injuries and we then trade away Antonio Bryant. 6-10 follow.

Seriously, how do we know the Cowboys haven't tried already? Maybe the Lions and the Cardinals are not in a hurry to stack our team with two #1 receivers on the way to the Superbowl. they have to position themselves to win as well, even if the chances are slim.

And weve seen how easy it is for someone to get hurt.

They have to make it 16 games. We lost 3 WR's in 4 games, less than that when you factor the amount of snaps it took for them to get hurt.
