Again... IF T.O. and Crayton can stay healthy until these guys come back, we'll be fine at WR.Trust me, you're ignorant.

You obviously know nothing about the team and their offensive tendencies if you think a loss of our #3 WR is a devastating blow.

Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th WRs are currently hurt.

T.O., Crayton, and Witten caught a combined 227 passes last season.

Our top 2 RBs caught a combined 67 passes. And we have a better receiving RB (Felix) replacing Julius Jones.

Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th WRs caught a combined 24 passes. That's it... 24.

Do I need to remind you how successful our offense was last season?

IF...

IF...

IF... T.O. and Crayton stay healthy, we'll be fine at WR.

And assuming Stanback doesn't go on IR (and he said he'll try playing through it), these guys should ALL be back before midseason.

What the hell are you talking about? That's like saying we could lose Bartel and Brad Johnson and not need to add another QB because "as long as Romo is healthy, we're ok."

Dont you understand that you are limited with 2 WRs?We will definitely get a WR.Thats obvious.

Playing Hurd In This Game Was A Blunder

I agree. When I saw him make his first catch I said lets get him out of there now. I dont want him to get hurt. I still didn't think we needed to run that reverse in this game.

We were so short at WR going in why chance your only #3 on roster?

We had 4-5 Rookies/UDFA types that could have played all game for evaluation.

Now we are in a bind at WR/CB roster calls.

Why don't you guys do me a favor and show me where I said we SHOULDN'T add another WR.

I'll save you the time... never happened. Try not to put words into my mouth.

We're very thin at WR and it is a concern, because T.O. and Crayton COULD get hurt.

My only point is that if they stay healthy, we'll be fine... so the Chicken Little crap isn't needed.

I've read stupidity on here like "we NEED a good #3 WR for 3 WR sets, otherwise we'll suck!"

That is the absurd reasoning I've been responding to.

If Hurd is indeed going to be out for awhile, then HELL YEAH we need to bring in a capable WR (if we can). We need some insurance behind the starters.

Again, all I'm saying... is that even if our WR depth remains horribly thin, our offense will keep rolling IF the starters can avoid injury.

In other words, if no one ever gets hurt, with our talent, we'll be OK. Ya, i agree.

JJ is definitely going to have to add another WR, IMO, if Hurd has a high ankle sprain.

If Hurd has a high ankle sprain, I'd expect Stanback to be put on IR for this season, and we will look to add a veteran.

It's not a major stretch by ANY means that they stay healthy. Since 2006, T.O. and Crayton have each played in 33 of our 34 total games (including playoffs).

So I'm not sure why you sound so convinced that they're destined for the Trainer's Room...

That isn't the definition of a chicken little though. This is just logical thinking. It is un-logical not to prepare yourself for the future, and you are running a HUGE risk by merely hoping the two starters don't get hurt. What happens if one of them get injured in the first quarter of the first game? The chances are higher than you think. Who do we put in if that was to happen? It's not just about 3 WR sets; its about security, security in knowing that we don't have to sub in Pacman Jones as our starting WR because we were to stubborn to get some depth at the position. That is the issue here, not the sky is falling.

Stats are cool, but we all know TO and Crayton were hobbled from high ankles during that time. I just think it's smart to sign someone. Not saying they will get hurt, but just because i haven't been in a car accident for over 20 years doesn't mean my kids and i shouldn't buckle up.

100% agreed.

I think JJ will look to the waiver wires and/or look for a trade.

Read my post again.

I don't disagree that we need depth at WR.

There were a couple Chicken Little posters claiming that without a good #3 WR, our offense would struggle because we wouldn't be able to utilize 3 WR sets.

Which is absurd when you realize that all of our backup WRs caught a combined 24 passes last year.

THAT is what I was responding to, and only THAT. And to that ignorance, I pointed out that our offense will not skip a beat as long as our starting WRs stay on the field.

I'll clarify myself again... if Hurd is out for an extended period of time, I am all for signing a WR or trading for a WR. I certainly don't feel comfortable with being 1 injury away from Amendola or Jefferson starting at WR.
I just think it's smart to sign someone.
And if Hurd is out for an extended period of time, then you and I are on the same page.

Am I really being this unclear?

I agree. He will be watching very closely on Aug. 30th. The Giants will have to release some WR. They have a surplus since they added Monk. I hate to say it, but I would gladly take their scraps at this point.

The answer is Kassim Osgood, because he'll be our best security on special teams and, unlike Clayton, Osgood wants to play.

I cant believe he was out there playing. It makes zero sense in any scenario you present it in. It was a braindead move.

Pacman jones is too proven and too good to play but San Hurd has to? When we are thin at wr.

Just absolutely brain dead decision. I hate to be a whiner, but I couldnt believe he was out there on the opening play, then when they ran the end around to him I was even more shocked.

I saw he was hurt when he was trying to get up and then saw him shaking his head on the sideline.

MIles Austin told kristie scales that sam was in the locker room icing his ankle down and was seriously bummed.

I hate to sound like a troll, but this is one of the silliest decisions ever. If tank johnson, pacman and roy williams can stand on the sideline and act like they are on recess from the local preschool, why in the world was hurd in the game.

I didnt complain about kosier being hurt in the 4th qtr of the houston game because it looked like they were tyring to get the young tackles work with the starting interior players. I understand that.

So now we have a premiere quarterback who has two healthy wr and we are headed to cleveland in a game that we are probably going to have to outscore them, with a beat up unit.

oh well that is my rant for the night. Forgive me for being trollish, I just dont get this at all.
