Hurricane Irma headed toward Florida

I've got family and friends in the western side of the state who were lulled into a false sense of security by the earlier track predictions. They're now limited as to what they can do so it looks like they're going to try to ride it out. I'm afraid they're not in the minority and there might be a whole bunch of people in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area that are going to be at risk.
They seriously put their lives in the hands of weathermen........I pray their safe!

watching all the press conferences I have learned the hand sign for S Florida is to show the back of your left hand pointed down with the thumb extended and point to the bottom of hte hand. I find myself watching the signers more than listening to what hte governor says.

Their facial expressions are funny.

I hope everyone is going to be okay in Florida. This storm is a beast. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has already been and will be affected by Irma. :(

What? Are you disappointed? Fear not my ignorant friend, if it doesn't hit Tampa; it will hit somewhere and then you can satiate your morbid curiosity.

They just acted like it was going to be some monster with sustained 150 mph winds and when they showed live clips on TV the sustained winds were less than 100.

When they showed clips on TV, no sustained winds over 100 mph. None.

Dude they were acting like it was going to be some Armageddon type event and it was far from that.
Maybe it wasn't that for you but we have folks that have lost everything including their lives because of this storm.

Quite a few people in my area had some sort of roof damage. I haven't seen any for myself yet.

Power is out, so got the generator running
