Maybe the Saints would allow us to trade for one of their backs. Seems like they always have 4 or more guys that can tote the rock.

If they'd take a 5th, I'd pull the trigger. I'm not sure Randle is ready for the lead dog role- his pass protection is very spotty.

Think of it this way guys - If we pay a 5th and he walks in the offseason and produces somewhere else (this is very likely, ala Marshawn Lynch) we'd receive a comp pick. We could easily get that 5th back and if MJD plays like his old self it could escalate to a 3rd lol we'd profit.

Do they offer a offensive playcaller too ? I'd throw in the 5th plus a 6th. The can keep MJD.

The chances of Jerry finding a player in the 6th round who would have as big an impact as MJD could for us this year seem pretty slim. I would pull the trigger on that easily.

What about Mark Ingram? New Orleans never even dresses the guy and clearly they don't have enough room in their backfield for him. Plus he has more burst and less wear & tear than MJD.

good alternative.

For a 5th/6th, it's hard to be against a rental. At a position where young guys make early impacts, Randle has looked pretty pedestrian, Tanner has proven to be only slightly better at best, and Dunbar, the best of the bunch, has a fumbling problem.

I'd at least give Randle next week. I don't remember being impressed with Murray when he came in for Felix against New England, and we all know how his first start against the Rams the following week went.

They've done as much as MJD has done all year

benson is likely your best call. turner is done, wells couldn't hack it in AZ who would sell their grandmother for an RB, and kevin smith?

not even worth thinking of a clever "no" to.

Yea, lets wing away picks for guys who arent long term, DO IT JERRY, get those guys with picks so we can win a few more games this season, WOO HOO, Any player, just wing those picks like hot cakes. Who needs em.

Let's see - He's a shell of his former self, over 30, still has an ankle problem and our line although better in pass blocking is still below average in run blocking.

I dont like it. I do however like the explosiveness of Dunbar.

Our line is worlds better than Jacksonvilles'... If he could play at 70% of old MJD he'd be able to replace Murray

Dallas has several extra picks next year and are in line for 2 or 3 more comp picks. We won't even realize we don't have our 6th rounder. If they would take it, I'd do it in a second.

I'd say yes for a 6th for MJD since he can also block. We need a RB that can bring that element to our backfield aside from Murray.
