Hypothetically speaking, would you take Cowher as HC if...

I would, sure. I like the kind of football he plays, lots of emphasis on defense and running the ball. He'd put some toughness into this team that I think it's lacking right now... And more than that, would insist on spending resources on the guys up front.

Really, is RJ the only OC that can get a team of Romo, TO, Witten, Roy Williams, Marion Barber, Felix Jones, and three pro bowl OL to score points?

I'd take him even if it means we lost Jason but I wouldn't be certain we'd lose Jason. He's making 3 million a year as an OC. That's a lot of cash for that position and he's plenty young enough that it would allow him to really get some valuable experience as an OC and learning more and more about being a coach in the NFL.

In 14 years he went to the Superbowl 2 ..... and won it once.

He would never last in this town.

Of course. Cowher is a proven winner who always fields top-level defenses and is a Superbowl champion. Redball might end up being good, but I'm not convinced that he can get the job done offensively without all-pros all over the field, and even this year with all that he hasn't really impressed me.

In 29 years Landry went to the Super Bowl 4 times and won twice. He lasted in this town.

I don't think any coach would last in this town. Not if the fans had anything to say about it.

I think we can all pretty much admit that SBXL was fixed b/c Bettis(being a Detroit native) was going to retire.

It was no coincidence that there were a number of killer blatant calls going against the Hawks all game-otherwise, the Hawks were waxing them throughout much of the game.

Umm...no. I'd rather not wait 15 more years for a Super Bowl.

Not in the last 20 years.

The Fans and Jerry had enough of Parcells after 4 years.

They have had enough of Wade after a year and half.

Its not the same time period anymore.

Immature fans have no patience.

Welp, Zrin....................in 12 years we've went none. Cowher has lost good talent every year and has done a good job with what he had. Thank the owners for the loss of talent. JJ keeps guys and Cowher would be a great evaluator of this "talent" we have on defense. I'm not saying he's brought in, just going off of what I've seen.

it meant losing the boy genius?

I'd take it in a minute. He'd bring instant leadership to this team. The biggest flaw with this team is it's lack of leadership at every level except maybe ownership.

Absolutely not. Coward is the most overrated coach in NFL history.

That "tough guy" look he always has on his face isn't a tough guy look. It's a whiny, crybaby "I'm gonna throw a temper tantrum" look and I have no idea why people always say he's "tough". He's a freakin' baby.

No thanks.

Welp?

Do not know if thats a cut down or you just misspelled something.

anyways .... I never said I was against it ... just that the Dallas Cowboys fans would start pushing for his replacement if he had not won anything within 3 years.

Dallas has horrible band wagon fans compared to the Steelers.

Look how they treated the last 2 coaches.

Here in Dallas-just MERELY being "good enough" doesn't cut it. As you know, if we don't win a game 49-0, CZ goes into a meltdown. Heck, even if we just MERELY go to NFC Title games every year, only to lose, CZ would be calling the Boys choke-artists as well.

I'm not sure Cowher is a good fit for this team.

Cowher strikes me as the kind of guy that would want to come into a situation and put his print everywhere -- not inherit a team on the cusp and win with someone else's players.

For instance, I don't see him wanting to deal with Owens, might want bigger linemen/linebackers for his 3-4, want "his" coaches across the board, etc. I don't think we're in a situation where we want a new voice coming in and taking a hatchet to aspects of this team. And I don't see Cowher being the type of coach that would accept Jerry saying, "Here, go win with these players," and doing it without objection.

As an aside, I think this team is built to hand over to Garrett. We don't really have another head-coaching candidate, and as I said above, I don't think we're built to bring in an outside voice who would want to come in and overhaul some aspects. The questions remains, obviously, is Garrett fit to be Wade's successor if we deem he needs to go?

Great points. I'd imagine all that gets hashed out before a hire in the interview process. But he does love those hugh LBs. I think those are passe though. A LB now has to be able to cover all the way downfield and still shed blockers.
