I admit I should not have bought what was being sold

I will admit it. I bought the bill of goods. I believed this team was different and capable of at the very least being capable of a deep playoff run. I was dead wrong.

And amazingly, until this season I usually started the season saying, “I will believe it when it happens.” I bought that this team, this coaching staff was positioned to be different. Again, I was as wrong as that putrid performance yesterday.

As of last night, I am returning to “I will believe it when it happens.” Not before.

For me, “buying in” won’t happen until I see some meaningful changes made at the top of this organization. An organization led by a man that never takes ultimate responsibility for his team’s failures and will never make a fundamental change in the way he operates. It won’t matter who is coaching or QBing this team until that changes.

How about you? What will it take to make you believe again?
You can look at my old posts. I was saying things to the effect of, "Don't get ahead of yourselves. If we don't beat Green Bay, there will be no other playoff games." Yet, I was quietly hopeful that this team could make a run. I was hoping they could at least get to the NFC Championship and play a great game, MAYBE getting an upset. I'm sick and tired of hoping. Before the game, I was watching science documentaries. Turns out, that was a better use of my time.

I said all along in the sometimes weekly poll (usually only after a W) that I will not be happy with Dak as the QB until he proves he can lead this team to places it hasn't been in ~30 years, because his track record was to fall apart in games like this, and I don't just mean playoff games. I mean games where the other team is able to score and the first series or two on offense doesn't go well. You look at the games we lost this year. What happened in those games? Our offense sputtered to start the game and the opponent got some early points. He goes into a shell at that point almost every time. Dude can't take a punch. So yeah, I'm with MC, we need to make a commitment to finding a legit QB.

Yup so no matter what they say and do leading up to the season, believe it when we see it

If they brought in a coach whose former teams were always the most physical.
And..

If the new coach wanted to draft a qb in the first round.

The latter will never happen but it’s what needs to happen. Otherwise, they will be toilet-worthy once again. Soft as Charmin, and the QB focused on his brand and stats.

No offense but for someone who's followed the Cowboys as long as you have I'm surprised you hadn't come to this realization sooner. It makes things a lot easier and less disappointing

But I believe if we had 2014 Tom Brady at QB the last two years, we wouldn’t have been much better. Brady can’t tackle or rush the passer.
With all due respect I believe this is where you are wrong. Brady was the ultimate leader. He was the best player and the hardest worker. If you did not know what you were doing or were not prepared Brady would hold you accountable. Dak is a best bud not a leader of men. When your 40 million dollar superstar QB needs everyone around him to lift him up and maintain accountability you will fail. Dak is like Gilbert Arenas or Carmelo Anthony. Fine players. Human stat machines. Self centered and self absorbed. Terrible leaders. Brady is like Jordan or Kobe. They demand perfection from everyone around them. Brady would not tolerate playing with Sam Williams. Brady would not tolerate the effort of Jayron Kearse. Brady would not tolerate the selfishness of Lawrence. Brady would not tolerate a guard having a salary cap hit larger than his. Brady would not tolerate Diggs pulling up in the playoffs. Everything that is wrong with this team is right there in front of your eyes all you need to do is open them up to see. Super Jerry enables his boys to do whatever they want with zero accountability and he declares Dak as the leader. What you get is what you saw last night.

But changing QBs without some other fundamental changes in this organization is just another coat of paint on the Titanic.
  :clap:bingo........so many wanna thump their chest being right Dak. Truth is they are right but there are other critical issues facing this team, mainly defensive.

I haven't beleived in years. I was worried about yesterday, and the worry was not unfounded. I guess at this point the real question is how much more effort do I put into being a fan.

Something I'll have to ponder.

A Superbowl and some years of TRUE PLAYOFF consistency.
Sadly, -and as Aikman said- the culture that prevails in the circus wont let anything suceed

The only thing I need to see to make me believe again is taking the most important position in professional sports seriously.

For almost 20 years now we've hitched our wagons to undrafted and 4th round talent at the QB position.

Show me that you are committed to taking the QB position seriously and I'll believe again.
You will be happy to learn that we have a QB that was taken top 5 overall in the draft.

Jerry firing the coaching staff, then hiring a new HC and giving him Jimmy Johnson level control and that HC gets to pick his staff as well as a purge of the paycheck-collecting players that obviously didn't want to be out there or just seemed incompetent once again in the playoffs.

if all that happened, I'd believe.

Your thoughts on Drake Maye the player?

I know doing what it takes to get him is an entirely different conversation. I'm interested if you've seen him play and what your thoughts are on him if you have.

Thanks.

If there is no accountability at the top of the pyramid, there is no chance of there being true accountability throughout the entire organization. Until that is established, there is no hope.

I'm not sure that would be enough. I've been thinking that maybe the situation in Dallas is just too big for anyone at this point.
