I admit it, this draft has me stumped

With the past few years I have always been able to narrow it down between a few players. Well with the exception of the Julius trade down but normally I narrow it down to 2-3 players that I think we will take with our first pick. Usually it pans out to one of those 2-3.

Now don't get me wrong here, I am not claiming Nostradamus powers here but would just get a feel like a majority of us.

I know many times Hos and I would narrow it down and usually have about the same players we think the team will take with the first rounder. I think last year we narrowed it down to Carpenter and Lawson both with positive and negatives for each but figured either would do.

However this year I admit...I am really stumped.

One time I think Merriweather, the next minute I think it is the Texas S, then I think this WR or that WR. Than I wonder if Branch falls to us.

Now Jerry is talking about trading up or down.

I just can not get a good feel for how this will shake out because I do think he wants to trade out of the spot one way or the other.

Is anyone else stumped this year compared to others?

As stumped as I am I think in a way it makes this draft more interesting with all of the possibilities.

Once thing will be clear...If Jerry moves up, down or stays pat we will all look back and say...Well he did give us the clues. :laugh1:

I haven't a clue. I was thinking all along maybe Merriweather in 2 but now who knows. I hope we don't trade up unless it's for Gaines Adams (I know) or Landry. I like AP but scared of his durability.

Not Stumped. I've said all along you have to wait and see what possibly falls to you at 22. We're not drafting high enough to where we can just target a particular position. I'll just be happy when the draft gets here, the coverage is starting to reach beyond overkill status.

The easy way out of that is to just make a draft board.

Once you have your draft board, the process is mechanical: you take whoever the highest player on your board is when you pick. The issue then is not who you will pick; the issue is who everyone else picks. Because you are just going to take whoever the highest guy is on your board.

You want to know who they will take at 22?

Then make a draft board that ranks the players from 1-22. You will get one of those players. Just take the highest one when it comes time to draft.

To be fair at that time I think the philosophy was to draft for backups, not players that would eventually start.

I also think this was around the time the salary cap was coming into play.

So I am not sure it would apply as much with this upcoming draft.

I agree. BUT that was pre - Ireland and I do think JJ has swallowed his pride some and would rather win and give others the credit as try to ***** it all and lose.

He could move up or down in the draft.

Moving up may be rare for Jerry but moving down in the draft is not.
