With the past few years I have always been able to narrow it down between a few players. Well with the exception of the Julius trade down but normally I narrow it down to 2-3 players that I think we will take with our first pick. Usually it pans out to one of those 2-3.

Now don't get me wrong here, I am not claiming Nostradamus powers here but would just get a feel like a majority of us.

I know many times Hos and I would narrow it down and usually have about the same players we think the team will take with the first rounder. I think last year we narrowed it down to Carpenter and Lawson both with positive and negatives for each but figured either would do.

However this year I admit...I am really stumped.

One time I think Merriweather, the next minute I think it is the Texas S, then I think this WR or that WR. Than I wonder if Branch falls to us.

Now Jerry is talking about trading up or down.

I just can not get a good feel for how this will shake out because I do think he wants to trade out of the spot one way or the other.

Is anyone else stumped this year compared to others?

I know what you mean. I, too, am stumped. But not for long.
I just knew at first it would be secondary help. then we got Hamlin.
Then I analyzed it and thought a WR fer sure, man.
Now I am back to secondary, specifically safety because the naysayers are saying safeties hamlin and williams are slow-footed.
Now, I am not saying I am a nostradamus or nothin like that, but here is what I think will happen.
Jerra won't get any takers for trading up or down. Owners don't want to help a Super Bowl contender get there any faster.
Jerra will weigh the situation. then consider his two WR 30-somethings.
Then he will pick the best available WR.
Bowe will be it because Ginn will be long gone by the 12th pick. Or sooner.
So, for now, Bub, let's just keep these pearls of wisdom between us. No use giving the rest of the pack of wild dogs here an edge on draft day.
Take it to the bank.
Take it to Vegas.
Bowe, man, Bowe. Cause Ginn ain't coming here and no one is gonna give Jerra help in getting Ginn here.
As always, no need to thank me. Your admiration and sometimes jealousy of my football acumen is thanks enough.
:)

That is only if they stand pat.

He could move up or down in the draft.

Moving up may be rare for Jerry but moving down in the draft is not.

I think Jerra is drinking again now that Purcells left the Ranch!

I am going nuts:eek: because I cant figure the direction we are going with the draft. I think part of that is because from a starting position I only see fullback as possibly an open spot. We all know we are not drafting a FB in the first. So take any guess you may and that's what it will be a guess at this point. Jerry confused things more with his pre-draft conference. I am so up and down with players as well,I think other then C.Johnson the WR group scares me,FS I dont think you could go wrong, same with CB,it's just a matter of finding a franchise player or a solid player. The suspense is killing me

Absolutely not. I know exactly what's going to happen. I'd share it with you but then you'd want to know the winning lottery numbers.

High marks for intrigue to be sure.

The last time I can remember that the Cowboys didn't have an obvious need and Jerry could have really take anyone in the draft, it looked like this.

1st round - Trade down
2a- Sherman Williams
2b- Kendall Watkins
2c- Shane Hannah
3- Charlie Williams
4a- Eric Bjornson
4b- Alundice Brice
4c- Linc Harden
5a-Edward Hervey
5b- Dana Howard
7- Oscar Sturgis

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Just when you thought it was safe to peer over the edge of the wagon.

It's not just the Boys, it's everyone.

There's still tons of intrigue in the top ten. Until that gets sorted out, it's going to be a mind game between teams.

Saturday is going to be awesome.

That was a very weak draft, even with hindsight it's tough to get an impressive draft, the 2 names that jump out are Curtis Martin and Terrel Davis, both never would have been what they became behind Emmitt, though would have been much better choices than Williams...

I hope the Raiders take Johnson and send this whole draft into a tail spin.

I would love it.

What's interesting is all the people who are scared about what Jerry's going to do in the draft. The last draft I point to which gives me optimism is 2002. The last draft pre-Bill.

For all intents and purposes, if 10-cent heads hadn't come out in AB and Ross, we'd have hailed that as a pretty good draft. Even Hunter wasn't a bad pick, he just wouldn't shift to FS...and then showed his worth in last year's playoff game against the 'boys. Go figure.

I have enough optimism based on that last draft that Jerry, Wade, and Ireland will do fine this weekend.

yep I said this last week, reading and listening more, confuses me more.

I am hoping we want spencer, yet worried philly will trade up to 21 with denver and take spencer.

I want merriweather but wonder if he is worth a 22?

Then I am worried we will trade down and end up with like the 5th or 6th best corner who is not a difference maker or a future starter.

In conclusion, saturday will be fun cause I have no clue either. I say merriweather but that is just what I have thought for a few days, by saturday it will be different.

I almost feel that after the PC, Jerry has a few things lined up.

If a player that he wants is avl. between pick 10-14, he has a trade partner in line.

I can also see him not having a player at those picks but none at 22. Which means a trade down to acquire more picks for this draft and next years.

I guess what I'm trying to say is out of the 3 possibilities, trade up, trade down, make a pick at 22, that I will be most surprised if we actually make a pick at 22.

From the rumors going around it seems like Al is Hoping that he can get some kind of QB via FA or later in the draft and be able to take Calvin.

I think he really wants to take Calvin and is hoping beyond hope to find some way to do it and still get a QB.
