I'm with you there. What I've started doing is just changing my diet. Nothing drastic, just instead of eating regular pasta, I eat whole gain pasta. Not because whole grain pasta is *better* for me, but because it takes longer for your stomach to process it. That way, it takes longer before I get hungry again.

The only thing about whole grain pasta is sometimes you have to find a brand that doesn't taste as bad as others. There are some that don't taste a whole lot different than regular pasta.

Meat wise, I try to go with very lean meats. (turkey, skinless chicken, fish, and very lean cuts of red meat)

Do that and load up with veggies instead of potatoes and rice and it does a lot of good. Obviously you can't eat lots of empty calories that contain processed sugar.

For sweets, I just eat fruit and / or yogurts. Though my morning coffee does have two of the natural sugar packets. (I refuse to use artificial sweeteners. They suck!)

What wheat pasta brands do you suggest. I looooove pasta so if it takes similar I could make the switch.

1) Replace rice with Quinoa, it is a superfood and a great great substitute to rice

2) I have tried to replace pasta with zucchini pasta, and it is different, but just as good and very very healthy. I'm going to try squash pasta in the near future.

3) make your own food that way you know exactly what goes into your meal.

4) have a food scale

Let me get back to you on this. My wife has been buying it. She will bring one home and I will tell her to "Try again". She has one she buys now that I have no problem eating. (especially with sauce on it). I will ask her what it is, though I know lots of pasta brands are regional.

I think I recall Barilla Plus being pretty good though, but don't hold me to that. I think that is a national brand.

Also note, it's high in protein. Protein has calories too, but they are good calories if you're going to be eating calories.

The wife switched from regular milk to skim milk and from white bread to wheat bread.

I am not really much of a milk drinker so that does not bother me. The wheat bread is ok so I can live with that.

However she tries to get sneaky and use turkey burger in some spaghetti sauces and other stuff and that is where I draw the line. :laugh1:

Well I am not really into all the health stuff. The wife is the one who is into that and has lost a good deal of weight recently. But with a few exceptions I don't mind some changes as long as it tastes good.

My wife switched from whole milk to 2%. I was OK with that, didn't notice it that much in my cereal. (you could when drinking it from a glass) Then switched from 2% to 1%. I noticed, but again it was horrible in my cereal. Then she switched from 1% to skim and I threatened her with divorce. Needless to say, we are drinking 1% milk these days. :laugh2:

Just use water in your cereal if you are going to drink 1% milk :)

I'll stick with my whole Milk. Then again I refuse to deprive myself of the foods I like. I just make sure that I don't overdo it.

That is a GREAT suggestion. I forgot to mention that earlier. I bought one of those and have measured my serving sizes with it. Great investment.

I got one it is me. When I no longer feel hungry I stop eating. :laugh1:

Seriously I think allot of folks over eat not to satisfy their hunger but because they enjoy the taste of the food.

That is my biggest thing.

Some areas you are raised to eat what you get on your plate. Not to waste it.
My wife could make some pretty good sized plates of food so I would eat the plate full of food unless I just could not physically eat all of it.

So I have learned to just eat until I am full. But on occasion I go against that if it is something I really like. Like Tacos...I really have no self restraint on the tacos. Sometimes it is so bad that I am hurting the next day.

Oh and I realized while typing this that it could be taken a completely dirty way by my fellow perverts...but for once I am not being naughty.:laugh1:

Did not even think of the nasty connotation until you mentioned it. :laugh1:

As for eating until I'm not hungry I have just always been that way. I'm pretty good about putting smaller amounts of food on my plate and going back for more if I'm still hungry but have always been good about not eating just because it taste good.

Funny think is, I have eaten more salads than usual and I am getting a taste for them. Used to not like them at all.

And thanks for the tip on the dysentery. I think I'll pass.

salad is fine but the dressing is what kills you, your 150 calorie salad ends up about 450 after the dressing

it's like that Applebee's ad where the guys are ripping a guy for only having a 550 calorie dinner and all happy about the calorie dinners but they have huge beers at the table which are probably 1000 calories
