Do you realize how being the first to six sets us apart?
In SB XIII, Cowboys v Steelers, both teams had won two SB's each, so whoever won that game was going to be the first to win three Super Bowls. PIttsburgh's 4-point (and quite tainted) victory exagerated the difference between the two teams to the point that 9 HOFers would be elected from that Steeler team while the Cowboys still had 4.

A difference of more than one Hall of Famer for each point in the victory margin.

Now we're tied with them again at five apiece.

That's why the perfect season (now that I think about it) would not be 16-0. It would be beating the Steelers again in the Super Bowl. I just hope they make it.

There's a tangible, palpable excitement to today. It may be exhibition football, the players we love may not play much if at all, but hot damn the Cowboys tee it up and kick it off tonight.

The last time I was this excited about a season was 1992. The way 1991 unfolded and ended told me there was reason to optimistic, excited and even a little bit giddy. I could feel it in the air then.

I feel it now.

I know we are one player (#2 WR) away from being near unstoppable and I know we are one injury (Romo) away from being incredibly vulnerable. That's the way it should be. It will keep us on the edges of our seats. It will keep us tuned in and turned on. Above all it will keep us dreaming of number six and all that could mean.

Do you realize how being the first to six sets us apart? We have five. The Steelers have five. The 49ers can tell both of us they were the first to five. Don't know about you, but that chafes me a little bit. Always has.

Fans of teams other than the 49ers and Steelers love to tell us and them that we focus too hard on having five. The truth of the matter is, if they were the first to six, we'd hear about it. Rightfully so. When you boil it all down to tallow, winning is all that matters.

Winning has spoiled us. I don't know about you, but I'm fine with admitting that. Doesn't bother me in the least. Why should it? Would you rather we have to apologize because of losing? Not me.

Last year the Cowboys overtook the Dolphins as the winningest team in the NFL. Our winning percentage is now the highest in NFL History. If the fates smile on us we should widen that gap this year. We all hope that isn't the only gap that widens. There isn't a gap to 2nd place on Super Bowls, but there could be if the cards fall right.

It starts tonight. Win or lose in the pre-season, that doesn't matter. What does is that we see depth, commitment, and execution tonight. No injuries, few penalties, and focus. I expect it. We all should. I believe this team does.

There's a different feel when a team is genuinely powerful and has high expectations. How high should our expectations this year be? The answer to that question begins tonight.

I can feel it coming in the air tonight.
You giving me goosebumps...

You can't be a true Cowboys fan if you pick lame UFC over the Cowboys first game.

Sure you can. Put on Celine Dion and drink two doses of Nyquil. When you wake up tomorrow Phil will be long gone and all that will be left is for you to explain why you have a Celine Dion CD in the first place.

Waking up possessing a Celine Dion CD would be exquisitely horrific. I would have to quickly jump into the shower and take on the hottest water I could stand, and lather with lye soap followed by scrubbing with a barbed wire loofa.

However the second most hideous circumstance would be awakening with Barry Manilow blaring " At The Copa, Copacabana"....

I'm really excited about getting to see the rookies play (especially Felix). It will be interesting to see how they transition their game from the NCAA to the NFL.

Hey, now. Slow down there, big fella. We don't want to lose you before kickoff. Tragedy is no way to start off our pre-season. :D

Im useing the picture in picture tonight.

The UFC Payperview is going to be epic and if I wouldnt have payed my money for it already i'd probably just wait until tomorrow to download it.

Half the screen will be UFC. The other Half Cowboys Preseason.

If one of the big 3 fights isnt on then the Cowboys preseason will be full screen.

Its a situation but not a bad situation to have.

Lets go Huerta, Lesnar, GSP!

I always get pumped about the young guys in these games.

Oline: Free, Pat, Marter, Berger

QB: Bartel - please show something we need it

RB: Im pumped about every single one of these guys.

WR: Stanback, Austin, Amendola

TE: Bennett

LB: Bobby Carp and Spence

CB: Ball, Ogelsby, Scandrick, Jenkins, Pacrat

S: Davis and Courtney Brown

I'll probably watch this preseason game 3 or 4 times off of www.Cowboysmedia.com

Im also grilling some burgers and Nathans Hot Dogs for the game. Dang I cant wait!

What's the beverage of choice? Wish I was hangin' out with you. I have to go with my wife, mother-in-law, and wife's cousin to a country bar called Ghostrider's that freatures country line dancing. Yes, line dancing. :(

Although, I get to watch the Cowboy's game sometime tomorrow from start to finish because my mother-in-law is kind enough to record the game on her DVR at 10 pm EST. Meaning, I can't turn on ESPN later tonight to catch scores and highlights. I will be tempted though.

Sucks living in western PA (Steeler country).
