I can only view the internet in "safe mode"

I know it's popular to say that because Apple is so unpopular that no one writes viruses for them, but the simple fact is the OS is a thousand times better in giving the user complete control without garbage like this happening.

System restore? What a waste of time.
And the fact that since there are fewer ways to modify the system, you thus have fewer iterations of possible problems.

For the guy that's just going to buy a computer, surf the net, edit some photos and documents and do very little else, it's not a bad system. But if you're one of those that likes to modify your system and are a "gamer" no need apply.

I would reformat the hard drive but when I moved I lost the windows OS CD.

Actually, I think my roommate has a copy of the new OS. I'll talk to him before I reformat. That's what I'm going to do (after I do the system restore and if it doesn't work).

I really do appreciate all the help :)

Are you talking about Apple? I know that company inside and out now. The last Business class you take at this University is making me write a 10 page paper and do a 12 minute presentation in front of a panel on how to make Apple better (along with 4 other people). They only have 2.6% of the computer industry but they're second in profit. HP is #1.

Not really. A greater percentage of your daily visual intake is created with a Mac. From advertising to movie and commercial effects. I earn a great living with my Macs, because I know I have better things to do than monkey with a tool, trying to get it work. I'd be pretty annoyed at having spent for a tool that gets in the way of me functioning at my tasks.

It's kind of the difference between an enthusiast and a user. Most consumers aren't enthusiasts and don't want to bother with schooling to use a tool. In this case, the OP obviously can't even surf in peace. That's the smallest of worries for any Apple user, while the greatest - using extensive graphics and 3D software are just as easy.

Too bad I dont know how to send a program via email, or I would send you "Spyzooka". That has found some things that my Malwarebites and AVG didnt find.

Buy an Apple computer. There's nothing on the computer that you or Apple didn't put there.

System restore? What a waste of time.

Downloading anything on an Apple or finding software for it? What a waste of time.

Amen to that "gamer" part. Good luck finding them.

Naw, everything looks right there...

At least, that's exactly how it looks behind my PC...

Did you every get it resolved?

Kilyin took the Quickheal off my computer, but I think there's something wrong with my IP address and I still can't get on. No more pop ups from Quickheal or messages telling me I don't have permission to delete it. I'll have to call customer support back. I've been really busy.

Still havent done a system restore huh?

It would take such little time. Just choose a day about a week before your problem started.

In all my years in the IT field I have only found one thing to be true.

Cables will get tangled :(

There's not a day on the list before the problem started though. Plus there was another program on there that I had to get rid of and it might come back.

Remember that scene from Office Space with the printer? We might be reaching that point.

System restore is crap.

My final suggestions since your inbox is full, posting it here.

Boot into normal mode. start - > programs -> accessories -> system tools -> internet explorer w/ no addons. try to browse the internet.

If that doesn't work -

Control panel -> Network -> manage network connections -> right click and properties on the network connection, then scroll down to tcp/ip v4, properties. change to 'obtain ip address automatically' and change to 'obtain dns automatically'. Apply and ok.

start - > programs -> accessories -> system tools -> internet explorer w/ no addons. try to browse the internet.

If that doesn't work try this -

start -> accessories -> command prompt
type netsh winsock reset
hit enter

reboot back into normal mode and
start - > programs -> accessories -> system tools -> internet explorer w/ no addons. try to browse the internet.

We call that a job around our house. I can see how you might be unfamiliar with gainful employment. :)
