However, one of the huge points of contention have been about the defense. If Romo had a defense then....

You fill in the blank.

But with the offensive line play, which enables a guy like Murray to display his immense talent, one might argue this team needed an offensive line more.

Now I'm not here trying to start an argument after that terrific win.

But this team cashed in 7's instead of 3's most of the night. In the past all the work the offense would do seemed to end with a fieldgoal, which allowed the game slip away. They controlled the game by continuing to score touchdowns.

The season is still early. But if this offense can keep this kind of pressure on the opponent, and own the clock, then this season may be something I would never have projected.

Now add in Lawrence and Spencer, and somehow create a pass rush and who knows how far this team will go.

I'm still suspect.

But that was some football on the field Sunday night.

But you're still picking us to finish 2-10 from here on out to finish 5-11, right? :)

Oline play is crucial. Not only that, but Garrett doesn't call the plays anymore, so no one knows what's coming with Lenihan. Offensive line has always been what makes a great offense run smoothly. It took our GM 15 years to figure it out.

No, I said they'd be 5-11. You may need to take a math refresher course.

Been wrong before. I'd rather be wrong and this team do the impossible. it's easier for me to get over being wrong than it is season after season of 8-8.

We're 3-1. Add 2 wins and 10 losses to that and you get to 5-11. Better get in the classroom yourself.

I share your new found optimism but it's worth remembering these Saints are very disappointing thus far...

Most people were telling us the stars support the offense being all world last year and it was the fault of the defense.
They spares no qualms in bashing the defense despite all it's TOs generated and Dallas offense consistently going 3 and out and not sustaining drives.

Now these same people are acting as if the offense is NOW great..

I got a little worried with us just running twice, and passing on 3rd down towards the end of the game. The Saints expected it. we all expected it. However, that TD to Dez was a brilliant call.

Last year. we probably would have played it safe and kicked the field goal after another run got stuffed.

Good stuff.

Coupled with our commitment to run the ball our O line is making a big difference this year. Watching other games this year good and bad offensive line play really shows up as a difference maker. The Patriots are in a world of hurt with Logan Mankins gone.

My sig has been the same for years. While we were busying trading 1st rounders for WR's and drafting 3 2nd round TE's, I've always felt the offensive and defensive lines should be the focus. It finally looks like the draft approach has turned a corner, and even though we still seem to be ignoring defensive linemen, at least we've poured some gold into that o-line - and it's working wonders.

So what? Last year the Saints would've righted their season against us. Last night the Cowboys showed us something so I don't want to hear about how disappointing the Saints have been. Hopefully the Cowboys keep rolling which is tough to do in the NFL.

Let's temper my noew found optimism. I think each week is a test. This team and this dysfunctional franchise have colluded in disappointing for so long it reminds me of the boy who cried wolf.

I live in a show me world with Jerry and have since about 2008. So I'm right there with you about the Saints and perhaps this was not the stellar test I thought it would be.

But each week I am ready and able to be outed as wrong and have this team surprise me right into the NFC championship game. Then it's win one and go to the dance.

It's a valid point Mamcita. And if Dallas throws out a horrible performance against the Houstons, the joy and accolades being toasted to the cowboys now will fade into just a blip on the screen.

Since 2010, we've been in need of one or the other. I think we'd be saying the same thing about the defense though, if the defense were as good as the OL is right now.

In light of recent developments, I invite everyone to revisit the great "running game doesn't matter" megathread...

I've been saying since before we signed Eldorado, we need an O line. At that time, we were seeing the decline of the Marco Columbo line,.

A good defense helps, but a good Oline helps everyone from the RB to the CB.

A great O-Line does one helluva lot more than open up holes and running lanes for a RB. It keeps defenses on their heels in every aspect and opens up a hornets nest with Dallas' talent. (I know you know this.)

Tony no longer has to win solo, which will erase many mistakes. I'm willing to bet he had friggin' blast last night.

This could be his best year with Dallas........ever.

Keep it up Dallas Cowboys.

Mash that gas pedal and don't look back!

I have to admit, that is exactly how I thought it would go.
