I can't fault the D today

The D is improving through 3 players. Barham, Downs, and QW. Our pass rush is horrific

I do agree we need more pass rush. However, they did enough to where the offense should have won it. The offense wasted 3-4 key opportunities, and the D gave them at least 4 stops.

I wouldn't consider giving up 34 points to be average defensive play in the NFL. Even though the Cowboys offense failed when having a chance to end the game.
Not just about points.

Did you think we'd hold henry to 100 yards? Or get 4 stops on him including late 4th down stop to give our offense a game winning series?

A series they bundled the clock with? Couldn't score a td in the 10 yard line?

No....you didn't expect that at all.

Stopping the other team 4-5 times is called the bare minimum. You typically get 10-12 possessions in a game. Stopping them 5 times means you’re giving up 5+ scores. Not good.

Exactly, and especially when it's the Ravens and you're stopping Henry in short yardage situations on multiple times, the offense should be winning that game, especially with how high powered it is. That's why this thread exists.

Still, they made critical stops against a dangerous offense that gashed them 2 years ago. The offense has to take advantage of it. I'm not saying the D was awesome, but they do look better imo.
I don't agree that they looked better. They made a couple plays, which is what they're supposed to do. They still gave 34 points, a back-breaking game-losing reception with 7 second to play, and failed yet again to get any pressure on the QB despite them being banged up all over the line.

I'll give them the excuse that they're down multiple starters. But those starters weren't any good either!

I honestly don't think Parker knows what he's doing. There are major issues with this defense that are only going to get more exploited as we go.

I should make clear, I like Dak. I like watching him and think he's a very good QB. However, I expect more out of our offense, especially when the D gets 4+ stops. When the D gets 4+ stops, I expect the offense to win the game.

That's fair, but again, we had a lead and the ball with 5 minutes or so to go after a key stop. The offense can't go 3 and out like they did. Even if they later punt, you can't go 3 and out there. You have to at least get a first down or two and make the Ravens use timeouts.

The D did their job. It wasn't pretty, but they stopped the Ravens on at least 4-5 occasions, including stuffing Derrick Henry at least 4 times. He didn't have a career game like he did last time he played us. All in all, the defence did about as well as you'd expect a defence to do in a game like that. And that's considering the fact that they had a rubbish DPI against Bland that should have been OPI (and changed a lot of momentum in the game at that moment leading to the Ravens opening score).

The fault for this game lies with the offense and Schotty. The offense didn't take advantage of multiple stops. The shovel pass was idiotic. They played too cowardly on the last drive, but didn't kill the clock if they were planning on taking it to OT. All in all, this loss is on Schotty and the offense (including Dak).
LMAO!

Other team's defenses have stepped up when put in even more difficult situations. And somehow have been able to give up less points even when their team's offense had committed multiple turnovers. The defense improved some, but the Cowboys still aren't going anyway if the defense is going to give up 30+ points every game. And if that is considered to be an average performance from them.

Giving up scoring in the mid twenties is what I would consider to be average defensive play.

Sorry but I just can’t get behind that. We’re celebrating the defense for doing the minimum expected and nitpicking the offense when yeah they had some issues but still put up 31 on a decent defense. We’ve lowered the bar too much for the Dallas defense.

I'm not celebrating anything. We lost. But, at the very least, I'm putting more blame on the offense than the defence today. The offense failed when they had critical opportunities to win the game.

My God, they gave up 34 points.

Please define how many more points they have to give up to NOT being “doing their job”.

Are they doing their job at 39 points? 42?

If a defense gives up 34 points, that team is going to LOSE 95% of their games.

I do blame the defense today. They are not the only ones but they are the primary ones.
The defense did some good things and some bad. But in the end a TE moving was likely the difference in the gsme

I'm not saying they were perfect. But they gave the offense opportunities to win it. The offense didn't take advantage. The shovel pass coming out of halftime, the fumble by Williams in the first half, blocked field goal after Steele holds to nullify a great play by Pickens, the three and out with about 5 minutes left to play and a 28-24 lead, and whatever's that RedZone sequence was at the end. With our high powered offense, those should have been successful possessions. The shovel pass and blocked FG cost us at least 6-10 points. The blocked FG especially because Steele held when he didn't have to, which nullified a great play by Pickens. Again, was the D perfect? No, but did they give the offense chances to win the game? Yes

The offense failed when they had critical opportunities to win the game.
Really? The defense gave up an 11 play 60+ yard TD with 4 minutes left. They also gave up a 2 play 27 yard drive and the game winning FG with 7 seconds left.

The defense failed hard when they needed to just not be terrible.

Because we played the Ravens with mostly the same offense as today and they massacred us. This year, we actually slowed down their run game. It's a fair comparison. At the very least, I think the D is getting better. It's slow, but that's expected. They do look better imo. But the offense bungled it in critical situations.
In what world is 198 yards at 5.1 ypc slowing down the run game?

The D made a few stops, but were again awful overall. The offense also having its screw ups doesn't change that.

So many people seem to be obsessed with blaming losses on one, and only one, thing. It is always multiple things, and today it was pretty much everything.

Tbf, these two probably don't happen if the offense doesn't go 3 and out on the preceding opportunity.
