He is twice the QB that your doofus will ever be
A Real QB with Leadership skills would never take a playoff team on a bye week trip to Cabo!!

Ever wonder why the Team Captains stuck with Prescott 2016 before Romo's "Team Hostage - Hierarchy Speech"

I can think of plenty of better coaches to be OC than Romo. For starters, people
With actual coaching experience.

Lazy coaches only work 80 hours.....

a lot of fans from apposing teams has said it's gotten terrible this season where his takes just look like he is doing zero research prior to the game. Jets fan mentioned how he barely even knew anything about their team when commentating the game. I think the Josh Allen and Mahomes groupie stuff is a bit much - and he is super critical of the Cowboys even worse than Troy was... you could hear the jealousy in his voice commentating our games lol
1. Troy is not super critical of the Cowboys. He's been pretty honest and down to earth about them. However, when the topic goes to Jerry, he has been critical in the past (which I agree with). As Cowboys fans, we have very thin skin and we need to get over it. We are the reason why SAS and others are millionaires.
2. You can hear the jealousy in Tony's voice? Really? He's got a cushy job, beautiful wife, great kids and expensive things with a huge bank account. I think Tony is doing just fine.

If CBS is actually getting tired of Tony Romo, as clickbait titles suggest, then he would be a great voice in the ear of the QB as a QB coach, and probably a top notch offensive coordinator. He loves the game, is a student of the game, and would be tremendously effective at designing plays. Few collarbone injuries in the offensive coordinator world, right?

Yes, the Dak-Romo relationship is probably a bit icy, but that can be a good thing too, both would have to be intentionally professional in their discussions.
This is pretty much exactly what was said about Kellen Moore

Tony is not a hard worker nor does he need the money. He makes like 20M a year working a few days a week 5 months a year. Why would be trade that in for a 7 day/365 job that pays far less?
I don;t think he goes from a walk on QB from a small college...to become one of the best NFL QB's of his time on the biggest sports team on Earth....by not being a hard worker.

Now...maybe NOW....he ain't. Dues paid and all that. Livin' large.

This is a terrible idea, Garrett-Moore-Romo would be more of the same

I can't imagine why some people continue to automatically think that any good former player would automatically become a good coach. Or why they would make the assumption that they would even want to.
:hammer:
He's got a 10-year $180 million contract with CBS. It runs through 2030.
:hammer:

End of thread.

(looks at number of thread pages)

wow.

At first insight, Kellen Moore was thought of to be a student of the game. And it was thought that the Moore/Prescott thing would be good but how did that turn out? When you have a coach that used to be your teammate, I think that's where the issue is...

And from all accounts, it wasn't even partying - they just chilled at some resort for a couple days. Not sure why that was ever a big deal, it wasn't as though they skipped practice.

The thing about the trip that made it controversial is that Romo went on the excursion from an invite from then-GF Jessica Simpson's parents and friends.

And had zero impact on the game. I guess if Romo spent more time in Austin, our defense wouldn't have given up a TD before the half and Crayton would have caught the two passes thrown to him.

I had an bad feeling about the playoffs back then. It started when the Giants slugged it out with the 15-0 Patriots in the season finale - losing by only 3 points.
Then I watched the wilcard game when NYG went down to Tampa Bay and, after falling behind 0-7 in the 1st quarter, they scored 24 straight points over the next 2 & 1/2 quarters to have a commanding 17-point lead with only 8 minutes left in the game (Bucanneers didn't get their 2nd TD until only 3 & 1/2 minutes left).
I so wanted TB to win that game...despite the Cowboys beating the Giants beating by 10 and 11 points to sweep the regular season series.

Exactly. His first year or two broadcasting he was relying purely on his knowledge of the teams he played against, and was motivated by the new challenge. Nowadays, if the game doesn't involve pro-bowl QBs or becomes one-sided, he's utterly uninterested in doing his job. His work ethic is questionable. I don't see him being a good OC at all.

I still can’t figure out why these networks pay anyone that kind of money.

Absolutely no one watches the game for the announcers.

I don’t who is there, even if it’s no one. If I want to see that game I’m watching it.
Ratings and social media posts supporting a guy is free publicity
These networks are really smart and while it may not be the reason you watch, how often do we see posts here complaining about one guy or the other? They’ve determined it does matter

I mean, the claim came from you. It's just an odd narrative that some loser columnist made this claim, that is completely uncharacteristic about Romo, and everyone here is running with it...as if people aren't trying to confirm their own biases. Romo was known to be a hard worker while here, it's how he went from a third string undrafted FA to a near decade long starter in the league.

Plus, CBS has pretty much called BS on that New York Post claim. Did you get around to actually reading it? They also made Enquire-like claims about Jim Nantz.
CBS was probably doing damage control. If they didnt have that meeting, they definitely should have. He has been awful this year
