Some believe Romo ran the offense and other believe it was Garrett.
It was both.

We just have to see if Dak can make the transition into a pocket type QB. Right now it don’t look good. And that goes to what you said. He won’t throw the ball. The receivers are getting open. He has to let it go. I still don’t understand why they don’t roll him out. Let him run around but designed, instead of him holding the ball and waiting to run.
It looks to me like defenses are trying to keep him in the pocket because he cant see the field and doesnt have the arm to hurt them. His throws are all inside the numbers and 10 yards down field. Thats his favorite box area and everbody knows it.That's a thought glim, but they won't listen. I remember back early in Romo's day, frequently it seemed Romo was most dangerous when he was rolling out and on the run, but the Cowboys were bent on making a pocket passer out of him. I felt they should've left Romo alone and let him play his game, but they forced his hand.
IMO they're doing the same to Dak. In 2016 Dak was the same way, he was dangerous when he was rolling out and on the run. The Cowboys don't seem to like that.
I agree. And I think Romo kind of covered for the staff. If you remember after the first year or so of Romo starting he said he studied tom brady in the offseason and his pocket presence, it changed the way he played QB. But when the play broke down and he rolled out it was guaranteed a big play. That’s what I saw from Dak the first year. Now he or the staff has him in the pocket more. He is trying to protect the ball and holding so long that the windows are closing. If he continues he will be on the bench and we will be trading our whole draft to move up to get another QB. Which I am sure would make lots of people here happy. But I still refuse to believe that a QB that played so well his rookie season is a bust. Maybe they are trying to protect him from the injuries rg3 ended up with from running it so much. That's a thought glim, but they won't listen. If I am Linehan and wanted to save my job then I take the leash off and let him play. I run it right at the giants and his first pass is a roll out to Collins side. Plant your feet and throw.
OK, draft a QB. Can you all not see that the front office and Coaches keep throwing our QBs to the wolves, to fend for themselves, no matter if it is Romo, Dak, or whoever??
One year is great and the rest they throw the QB out there in a chaotic mess their whole careers.
Just because Romo & Dak have different styles of playing, this does not change the actions of the heads over them concerning personnel: roster decisions, Coaching, schemes. To take away a playmaking WR & TE is huge on O and forcing a bandaid in there and expecting them to perform just as well (and then blaming the player) is just horrendous to me.
Between the roster decisions and the Coaching, I would be greatly shocked if this teams wins ONE GAME this year. And STILL, JG will continue to throw everyone around him under the bus until there is absolutely no one left but him standing. I have NEVER heard JG go to the podium, take ownership as a HC, and say, I am responsible and need to Coach this back to where it needs to be. He has NEVER taken responsibility for failing miserably at HIS JOB. He deserved to be fired immediately after the Atlanta game.
His response, "I saw it, but did not believe it."
That is the PROBLEM in a nutshell with him.
This is why the O is WORSE now. He forces these players to continue to be miserable, low, not be able to execute these horrific plays. He has killed this O and refuses to COACH them out of it because he CANNOT CALL PLAYS. He cannot recognize anything, adjust or create anything to make them winners. He FORCES them to struggle so hard and completely drain these players just to gain 2-3 yards on O game after game...
If Linehan is smart (doubting it) he will make this simple change. I really think they are going to run the same system and hedge there bet that they have the personel to beat 10-11 teams with it. Problem is when you hit other playoffs, those teams have the personel to beat it.glim I know exactly what you're talking about with Romo, I remember it clear as day. It was just like you said for both Romo AND Dak. I agree with you wholeheartedly, give Dak some space and let him do what he was doing so well in 2016.

don't agree because kellen moore is linehan's disordered attachment.I agree with some of this post, but the bolded part is wrong. The main job of the coaches (not the Coordinators, but the coaches), is to help the players adjust to the difference between the college game (speed of play, physicality etc) of the pro game and to instill various techniques and fundamentals that the players haven't gotten in their previous coaching that are neccessary or helpful at the pro level. The one exception of this rule is the QB coach, who's job seems to be a sounding board for the QB and a go-between to the executive parts of the staff (i.e. head coach and OC). The rest of the team seems to have benefited from the new and existing coaches and Linehan and Marinelli's schemes seemed fine in week one (once Marinelli was able to make his players aware that Cam Newton likes to run the football).
The problem is that Dak doesn't need a sounding board. After Week 1, he looks like he needs to have his fundamentals broken down and needs to be watching film when that isn't happening (sleep is optional, lol). Maybe it's rust. That is the only thing I can really harp on against the coaching staff and maybe Garrett has to go because nobody is listening to him anymore, but we were terrible on Offense this past Sunday and the biggest reason for that was #4.
Then you are agreeing because I'm not saying that Moore is what Dak needs as a QB mentor/guru.don't agree because kellen moore is linehan's disordered attachment.
Dak or any NFL QB without a vet QB or an excellent QB Coach or OC or HC (former QB/OC) will not stay alive. Then you are agreeing because I'm not saying that Moore is what Dak needs as a QB mentor/guru.
I think you are putting too much of an emphasis on the QB Coach. And Linehan IS a good OC. He's doing his best to work with A QB who is not improving like he should be. That's ultimately on Dak. He's reportedly worked with his own QB gurus in the off-season and still we aren't seeing the improvement that we should be seeing.Dak or any NFL QB without a vet QB or an excellent QB Coach or OC or HC (former QB/OC) will not stay alive.
If I had to rely on Kellen Moore in order to perform my job, I would be unemployed immediately. I don't think people see how absolutely incompetent he really is. He has never even won an NFL game...ever. And if you have to rely on nothing but 1st rounders and All-Pros in order to make you look like you are a doing a good job in the NFL as an OC, then Linehan really doesn't belong in the NFL either.I think you are putting too much of an emphasis on the QB Coach. That is a very good point. I think you could say the same thing about much of the O.AKOYE is the truth. He did a similar evaluation of Dak last season. The tape don't lie. He is very thorough and fair. I wonder if the coaches know how to do film study? If they do, why is Dak making the same mistakes as last season. Check out the video.
