There were several, I'm not sure how this is confusing. Don't let the quick passing confuse you
Sorry but no they are not. It is very easy to tell when he sticks out his hand with the ball for the RB and brings it in. It did happen but barely at all.

There were a couple of boots, and a couple of straight quick PA. I specifically remember a boot for the last first down to seal the game before victory formation. The game wasn't on in my market (DC Metro- went to a sports bar) and I didn't record, otherwise I'd point them out.

I think that is a big difference between Mike and Kellen as OC, in the past Kellen would be calling and putting certain plays on tape to show off the offense when it wasn't needed and probably should have keep some of them in his back pocket for later use. Kellen wanted to show off the big brain.

This used to be Dak's bread and butter. You would look at his splits and his TD total YPA and rating would double on those plays.

He didn't throw a single one last game and still got 2 TD at a 112 rating clip.

We haven't seen the whole offense people.
I believe your last sentence of what hasn't been seen may be one of the most significant since the win yesterday.

But let me ask this. How much of the lack of play action is based on getting the ball out quickly in your opinion?

This may be a case of Mac easing into this. Or he is hiding all the things he has in store? No film, no design to stop something you haven't seen.

While this might be a frivolous comment, Dak might be the perfect QB for Mac in that he will stick to the script and his ego is such that he won't be an arrogant mess like Rodgers. Obvious Rodgers has a set of skill which eclipse Dak.

However, if the system is what wins, Dak may play within that system without question, without pushing back. Just a thought.

Not by a long shot...and yet we've seen some new, well designed plays. This could get really fun.

I think he just felt he didn't need to pull out the stops for TD and liked the idea of getting his kicker experience. He as up 2 scores for most of the game.

Here's some notes for the rewatch:

77 had a rough game. Williams got him a couple times. Williams put Steele on his butt a couple times. I would say the interior played better over all. 70 was a stud and outside of Bass' whiff they were pretty clean.

Williams played up against our tackles for most of the game. He beat them a lot. When they tried to go after Bass with him, we ran behind Steele and the TE off tackle and on stretches, so they moved him back over our tackles.

Gilmore had a rough game. He was trailing Wilson on the TD. Bell and LVE absolutely bit on a playfake and left the middle of the field wide open. Then it seemed his gameplan was to mug people. I think he got 2 PIs.

It was good to see Lewis out there running well. He's really good in the middle of the field.

The rest of the secondary was excellent. Diggs continues to make big plays and Kearse and Hooker combined with Diggs on 3 straight drive ending picks to end the game.

Our perimeter blocking is a strength. 87, 40, 86, and 89 have all stood out in this regard. Our best runs came behind Martin and these guys. Dowdle had two outstanding blitz pickups.

They ran no playaction at all. As in zero snaps. No play fakes. Is it out of the playbook? Or is MM going CIA?

It was a lot of slants and crossing routes. Lamb was getting regular separation off of double routes off of these concepts. On early downs we ran a lot of RB sprints and outside screens to our TE and WR. We ran a lot of screens to our RB. Vaughn was by far the most successful one. Jets sniffed out a lot of them.

This is interesting because Dak got 2 TD, 255 yds, an 80% completion percentage and a 112 rating without using any play action. Historically, it's been his most productive play type.

I will also say that what Dak is doing, going from what he's known to what looked a lot like what Walsh's 49ers and Tomlin's Giants used to run, is pretty impressive. He stared down a route and nearly turned it over throwing a way late ball and he flat missed Ferg on a wide open corner route in the RZ but he was on time and on target for most of his 38 passes.

Mazi played in the first half when the Jets were still running the ball. He played a lot with Hankins, 97, and 99. He is strong, moves well, and can get off blocks(sometimes), but he is late off the ball more often than not. They have him playing A and B gap and he did look good on his snaps at B. It looks like the game hasn't slowed down for him.

Parsons took Cooks lunch money and toyed with McGovern but the whole DL played excellent. 97, 95, 99, 58, and 96 controlled the line of scrimmage. DLaw was making plays. 92 and 56 were not successful on their rush but they tackled well. 54 as pretty quiet.

Clark didn't play much at all this game. He started but did not see much time after the first series. Bell and LVE were the LB for most of the game.
Clark got blocked into the stratosphere by Rucker

I think play action slows down the quick release we're looking for and takes the QB's eyes off the secondary,,, could be we don't see it much this year given the talent level of the DLs we're facing.

No doubt. It's straight hard to do it with a 3 step drop given the depths involved.

We have found a couple PA passes but all in the first half.

LAst drive start at around 5:50 goes run, run, run. Checking the one before that. Run, run, run. One before that. Run, run, 3 step drop, shotgun, run, 3 step, run, run, run, run, shotgun.

His last pass was the corner route out of shotgun he whiffed. That was not play action eitehr.
I jsut rewatched it. The last drive started at 3:00 after the Diggs interception. I dunno what game you’re watching. His last pass before the two minute warning was a playaction pass on 2nd and 5 in single back formation

Lol the whole game I was telling my brother “just wait they’re setting up the run for play action later” and then I feel like it was maybe one or two plays
Yeah I only remember one, and he was a fake draw, because I called draw lol

Okay cool I see it. So 3 total PA attempts out of 78 snaps. Still remarkable.

McCarthy had the QB keeper in his back pocket too. It was open on almost all the rpo looks. Didn't need it. We'll see it at some point I'm sure.
Glad he didn’t. The one time Dak did run , he could’ve got down and protects himself well after he got the first down but nope he allowed himself to get tackle. Dak simply doesn’t protects himself as runner and I’m cool with McC not opening up the playing for him To be a runner. The risk is bigger than the reward.
