What options? He was getting rid of the ball in two seconds much of the game.
You're basically making the point right now that Tom Brady and Drew Brees were 1-read quarterbacks lol

To @TWOK11 's point, even if it's 1 read and then checkdown, that's after 2-3 pre-snap reads.

Lol, Dak and pre-snap reads has never been a good idea. It reads like Mandarin Chinese to him.

Wrong. He's one of the best in the league pre-snap and everyone credible knows it.

You are trying to make a really, really dumb point.

I think that is a big difference between Mike and Kellen as OC, in the past Kellen would be calling and putting certain plays on tape to show off the offense when it wasn't needed and probably should have keep some of them in his back pocket for later use. Kellen wanted to show off the big brain.
How much of this is just Air Coryell versus WCO scheme differences. I don’t remember a lot of play action from SF by Montana and Young, or Rodgers at GB. Also what’s the point of play action? To hold the line backers to keep them falling back into coverage, which matters if you have long complex route trees. In the WCO the ball is out so quickly that taking time for play action is both unnecessary and would actually slow the play down.

I remember a few play-action passes from shotgun one was on a bubble screen to Turpin but nothing from under center.

I thought the one hold that he was backside on was BS. He should have just let the guy fall instead of ride him down....
Yeah he couldn't stop him from getting inside so he held. Williams punked him a couple times. The one who really got wrecked by Williams was Steele but they were moving him around.

There's truth to that. Although, in the past, Kellen would have been dialing up some of those fancy plays when the game is in the bag. Like he wanted to show off the offense instead of holding some of them back for when you really need them. It seems, although still early, Mike wants to play it conservative with the lead, short passes, ball control, run the clock, less concerned about stats than KM offense. Those are WCO concepts as well, but we also didn't need to dial up big pass plays. We were not not going to be in a shootout with a Rodger-less Jets, so just move the ball, control the clock and don't make mistakes.

I'm sure it was a big part of the game plan against the Jets, who have a very good defense, as shown the week before against Buffalo, quick passes and don't give the pass rush time to get home. It will be interesting going forward to see how he adjusts the game plan against more explosive offenses that have the ability to score points and against less formidable defenses. So far, I'm enjoying the complementary football, but the fun really begins when we aren't playing such offensively challenged teams.
