I feel a bit sorry for Justin Fields

I must say. I feel a bit sorry for Justin Fields. There were discussions of him being compared to our QB coming out of college. I thought he looked good coming out of college. It seems clear that he doesn't want to be in Chicago anymore, and I don't blame him. The Bears are absolutely horrible at developing QBs and are clearly clueless about what to do with Fields. They're slowly destroying a QB that I think is a solid QB.

I wonder, and this is meant as support for Dak as well, if there is a way that we can trade for him without giving up a lot. I think it would be spectacular to have a 3 QB trio of Dak, Fields, and Lance. I think Fields could really use the tutoring of Mike McCarthy. I think we would have a situation where we'd have an excellent QB in Dak and two young arms in Fields and Lance. Not only would this benefit us in terms of having QBs on rookie contracts, but it also gives us a chance to have them compete with each other and become possible trade fodder for us later. I think Dak is going to be here for a while, but we'd have two QBs behind him who would back him up well and can be flipped later for a high pick.

I don't know. It's just a thought that I had, but Fields is going to be ruined with the Bears if he actually manages to play out his current deal there. I think he'd be a good backup for us, and, between him and Fields, I think we'd have the best duo of backup QBs, if Mike can rebuild Fields' confidence.

The Bears just do what they do. Most of their Head Coaches in my lifetime have been "defensive" minded guys. It's in their DNA.

The one time they hired an offensive guy that had some success in this league (Matt Nagy), he inherited Mitch Trubisky from the previous regime when they could have had Mahomes in the first place. And still took them to the playoffs twice.

He's crying all the way to the bank.

Maybe, but it can't be fun having the situation he's got in terms of the coaching staff and organisation that he's got. He's had two coaches that have been useless with him. His oline is complete crap. The team is an absolute mess, and they are teetering on an implosion within the first 3 weeks of the season. I'd be shocked if they win a game this see with how bad things seem to be in Chicago, and it's not entirely Fields' fault.

I really thought Fields would take a step this year. He's dynamic on the ground and I believe has the ability to let the ball rip. That said I am confused by what the coaches are trying to do with him this year. He's not running the ball like he was. From the outside looking in they appear to be making him a pocket passer prematurely.

First off the Bears wont be trading Fields anytime soon so I would get that thought out of your head completely. It's week two and they don't really have a plan B.

I feel bad for a guy like Nick Chubb who many have just lost his career by laying it all out on the field. I don't feel bad for Justin Fields who may not be in the best situation, but that's the NFL for you, and typically the QBs taken at the top of the draft are not put in the best situations. They may not be the best of the best but the Chicago Bears still have NFL coaches on their staffs. At some point the player is going to have to produce.

Honestly, the Bears would've ruined Mahomes if they'd drafted him. They're an absolute disgrace of an NFL team. If this were European Football, they'd have been relegated ages ago. It's a shame because I like the Chicago area. I enjoy the convention that I go to in the area. I had a wonderful time at the game in 2019. Their fans were very nice to me. I've never really had a bad situation with a Bears fan. They deserve so much better than what their ownership has given them.

I feel bad for Chubb too. I live in Cleveland, and it's a shame what happened to him. Between the Bears and the Browns, I'm not sure who's in a worse situation. I would imagine Fields though just because it seems that people are turning on him, whereas with Chubb, he's absolutely beloved here in Cleveland. I think Chubb is going to have his jersey retired here when his playing days are done with how loved he is here. Fields, on the other hand, is in danger of losing his career because of coaching and FO malpractice. Honestly, he'd be better off with Jason Garrett, and that's saying something.

At one point there was a list of offensive players who thrived after separating from Nagy. I honestly don't know a lot about him, but he was bad news from an offensive stand point.

That's the thing. It seems like they want him to become a pocket passer. That's not his game at all. I'd imagine if he had a coach that knew how to use his legs, he could develop into a top QB. Instead, he's with an organisation that is completely useless with QBs and has been for almost a century.

He's a good kid. I pull for people like Justin, Hurts and Trey Lance, while root against people like DeSean Jackson, Tyreek Hill and Antonio Brown. I just wish Hurts was on a different team. He's a good dude too. We need more positive role models like those and less of people like Antonio Brown.

I will give him a free tissue if he needs one.

I can't stand coaches who try to hammer system into guys who do not have the corresponding tools. Obviously you have to protect Fields, but it's a slow transition still taking advantage of his strengths.

I think things will change quickly in Chicago. They have to see the error of their ways and adjust.

Same, Justin, Lance, and even Hurts, by all accounts, seem like fantastic people. I like seeing positive role models like them succeed (except when playing us, of course). I know we can't have every player and all that, but Fields needs a different team. I think Fields would do well with Mike McCarthy. I think his confidence, which looks to be completely shattered, would return.

Amen, AB is such a clown. Too many people gave him an out after the Burfict hit but that dude has been a clown forever. He was a complete jack wagon in college too.

That's the trouble, I'm not sure how they will change in Chicago. I'm sure their fans want a change in how things are done. However, their coaches have been useless since Ditka. Their FO seems to be complete idiots when it comes to QBs, and they've gone from being a once proud and founding team to an absolute disgrace in the NFL.

The coaching staff wants him to be a pocket passer. But I think that decision was made higher up.. GM or somebody said we don't wanna pay a running QB lets see what he can do.. If not tank and draft Caleb

Well, and what's to say that Caleb will fare any better? He's a running QB too. Honestly, and he's indicated if the wrong situation comes that he'd stay in school, he should stay in college if the Bears have the 1st overall pick.

Have you guys watched "A Football Life" with DeSean Jackson? I didn't like him before I watched it, but after, I couldn't stand him even more. Both him and his dad. They both were all about themselves. They showed footage of him in Pop Warner, his dad would stand on the sideline and would threaten his coach with stuff like "If you don't give him the ball more we're going to a different team." You could tell the coach was annoyed by that. I guess his dad is more to blame for him being a total "Me!" type player.
