the only thing Spencer gets more of than oh-so-close moments

are moral victories on the board

Spencer has played pretty darn good all season, despite his lack of sacks. Experience is the master teacher. He's progressing nicely for a 3rd yr. guy in his 1st full season starting.

So we can't talk to you now when he has a game ending interception? Idiocy!

He still has no sack and QB's get away from him, so hes not doing enough, Orakpo has some sacks, now lets compare.

As to the other poster, its not about stats, its about what you were drafted for the team for and hes not doing it. So far hes going the way of Spears, taking some years to get solid, dont have time for that with all the players, some have to break out.

Spencer's a guy who has taken some heat at various points this year, but has really come on strong in recent weeks. Still, the stats suggest he's kind of just a "meh" player.

It was nice to see something finally bounce his way today in that game-clinching interception.

He had me worried to start the season but has really come on strong here as of late. He is playing very solid opposite DWare. Just keep getting better.

He has more QB pressures, passes defended, tackles for loss and interceptions than Ware has. He's filling up the stat sheet; you're just unnecessarily and short-sightedly fixated on one particular stat.

He was drafted to be the strong side OLB opposite Ware, hence he plays over the TE on virtually every play, meaning he has to drop into coverage more, read the TEs and RBs coming out of the backfield when he's rushing -rather than rushing with no worry, and he also doesn't rush from the blind side so he's less likely to get a sack even after he beats his man as the QB can get rid of the ball (Rodger in Greenbay game and Campbell on a 3rd down conversion to Malcolm when Jenkins was covering him.

What if he has 7 plays like the one where he made Campbell run out of bounds but sucked in other areas, would he be a better player?

I said its not about stats, but guys have to generate sacks, im not a fan of sacks, i want to see if he can touch the QB, so far he cant. He has to get there and tell the team he can do it, if they can avoid him, im not happy. See Romo getting sacked by Orakpo. Players can get to the QB, why not ours.

You clearly don't know enough about what you're trying to talk about so here's some education:

They don't give you pressures unless you're touching the QB, or close to it. So he has been touching the QB. Or did you miss his take down of Campbell today also, along with Ratliff?

Orakpo never sacked Romo. That goes down as a QB pressure. Basically what Spencer has been doing all year; they can lead to drive stopping plays too you know. And Orakpo was rushing on a back, Barber. Romo was sacked once in this game, by Griffin.

And OUR PLAYERS have been touching the QB a lot this season. Although I don't think you'd know it if you saw it.

Great, you are thrilled Spencer is solid, wonderful, i wont argue your opinion to wait for him to "get it". Its great, other teams get sacks, we're winning the QB pressure award. Great. Chalk that up to Phillips defense for keeping his job. HEy boss we dont get turn overs but we "got the pressures" he scared the bee jesus out of that QB, we wont throw another TD on us"

Sorry, he was brought in to cause havoc and do something, we'll just wait to see if he can do it or be "Another guy waiting to get it". Maybe he can go the way of Spears, "hey guys my break out year is coming next, than next year, and the year after that." Just wait.

Id bet you'd be all for waiting for Canty to break it out.

And let me be real clear about this, there are no rewards for getting as close as you can. We are in the sport of get that freaking guy or your butt wont be here next year, unless we cant dump you because you have Blackmail like Proctor. For more black mail, see Proctor.

I swear......Spencer will finally get his first sack and there will be those who complain he only has one sack so far this year.

He wasnt brought in to "kiss the qb" he was brought in "to get the QB and bring his butt down". But we got fans whos hoping he'll get it. You know, if it was flag football, hes your man. But its not right yet. ITs football and that means sacks help create turnovers, thats not what hes getting.

a few of the big runs they had were all his fault. He took such wide angles on the play that cartwright just ran right where he came from. One was a huge gain and Brooking chased him out of bounds 20-30 yards later. As well as the big catch Cartwright had.

He has been strong against the run this whole season, this game however was not his best game at all... I know he had a few deflected passes and the interception but this was probably one of his weaker outtings.

Spencer seems to be improving on a weekly basis,he starting to look like a complete player. If he can fine tune his pass rush by years end this team will be set.

I hope he doesn't get 1/2 a sack. There will be hell to pay for sure.

THAT WOULD AT LEAST BE SOMETHING, He cant even get 1/2 a sack. Wonderful. Well, at least hes close, and people are willing to give him time to have his break out game, like a lot of other players on the team. wait for it, Ogletree will have his soon too. Than again i remember posters predicting Hurd would have a break out game too. He might, may not be with the Cowboys tho.

There is more to the game than sacks alone.Would it be great for Spencer to have 6 sacks at this point in the season?Yes,it would. But that has not came to fruition as of yet.Spencer is starting to look like a complete linebacker, that is good.I'd rather see him develop a little slower into a complete linebacker at a slower rate than for him to just turn into a situational pass rusher who can be exploited in other areas of the game.I do think he has to show that he can "seal the deal" with a few sacks by years end though,i'm just not all that worried about Spencer right now.

Hurries can be better than sacks. I think Spencer is a physical OLB that will only improve. He's a beast.

It's one thing when your lady who is a Packers fan, says "Who's Spencer? He's good." because his name is being called out every other play.

He's been having a very good season. Some folks just don't see it b/c it doesnt show in the SACKS column of the stat sheet.

Would it surprise you to find out that that was Ware indeed who vacated that hole that Cartwright ran through for his only significant gain of the game? Would you come back to apologize for not knowing what you're talking about when you realized the truth.

Will shiningstar own up for being an idiot and piggy backing on a false assessment if he ever finds out?
