the only thing Spencer gets more of than oh-so-close moments
are moral victories on the board

RainMan;3093299 said:Spencer's a guy who has taken some heat at various points this year, but has really come on strong in recent weeks. Still, the stats suggest he's kind of just a "meh" player.
It was nice to see something finally bounce his way today in that game-clinching interception.
ShiningStar;3094967 said:He still has no sack and QB's get away from him, so hes not doing enough, Orakpo has some sacks, now lets compare.
As to the other poster, its not about stats, its about what you were drafted for the team for and hes not doing it. So far hes going the way of Spears, taking some years to get solid, dont have time for that with all the players, some have to break out.
newnationcb;3095032 said:He has more QB pressures, passes defended, tackles for loss and interceptions than Ware has. He's filling up the stat sheet; you're just unnecessarily and short-sightedly fixated on one particular stat.
He was drafted to be the strong side OLB opposite Ware, hence he plays over the TE on virtually every play, meaning he has to drop into coverage more, read the TEs and RBs coming out of the backfield when he's rushing -rather than rushing with no worry, and he also doesn't rush from the blind side so he's less likely to get a sack even after he beats his man as the QB can get rid of the ball (Rodger in Greenbay game and Campbell on a 3rd down conversion to Malcolm when Jenkins was covering him.
What if he has 7 plays like the one where he made Campbell run out of bounds but sucked in other areas, would he be a better player?
ShiningStar;3095074 said:I said its not about stats, but guys have to generate sacks, im not a fan of sacks, i want to see if he can touch the QB, so far he cant. He has to get there and tell the team he can do it, if they can avoid him, im not happy. See Romo getting sacked by Orakpo. Players can get to the QB, why not ours.
newnationcb;3095087 said:You clearly don't know enough about what you're trying to talk about so here's some education:
They don't give you pressures unless you're touching the QB, or close to it. So he has been touching the QB. Or did you miss his take down of Campbell today also, along with Ratliff?
Orakpo never sacked Romo. That goes down as a QB pressure. Basically what Spencer has been doing all year; they can lead to drive stopping plays too you know. And Orakpo was rushing on a back, Barber. Romo was sacked once in this game, by Griffin.
And OUR PLAYERS have been touching the QB a lot this season. Although I don't think you'd know it if you saw it.

He has been strong against the run this whole season, this game however was not his best game at all... I know he had a few deflected passes and the interception but this was probably one of his weaker outtings.

ShiningStar;3095160 said:THAT WOULD AT LEAST BE SOMETHING, He cant even get 1/2 a sack. Wonderful. Well, at least hes close, and people are willing to give him time to have his break out game, like a lot of other players on the team. wait for it, Ogletree will have his soon too. Than again i remember posters predicting Hurd would have a break out game too. He might, may not be with the Cowboys tho.
