Just got done breaking down the Packer/Broncos beatdown.....So what does this have to do w/ the Cowboys?

Good question....

Noticed how the Broncos were using 4 wrs to force the Packers into their nickle package. 6 guys in the box.....always. Then it occurred to me why doesn't Dallas do that?

Single RB...4 WRs......Our offensive line should feast having to block only 6 in the box. And Demerius Thomas was 1 on 1 the whole time. Think Dez would like that?

Don't think the Cowboys do it because they feel obligated to have Witten in the lineup. But w/ that you have another LBer on the field.

Just thought I'd share. Packers looked really vulnerable on D.

And if you haven't seen that game you should check it out. Cowboys could learn alot from that tape on the Packers.

I agree. Butler needs to be active this week. Spread the field with Dez and Butler on the outside. Williams in the slot. Beasley tight to the formation. You can have Witten out there. Just have stay into block, solidify the protection and then go out into the flat.

I break quite a bit of tape down during the week...and it sure seems like that all you see defenses play is a 4-2-nickle. Why we haven't spread people out before now and ran the football...is really puzzling.

If you found the key, FEDEX it to the Cowboys ASAP. The iggles are a bad team. Getting beat by them, in our house will be the ultimate season low point. Not only would it be the sixth loss in a row, it would be tantamount to crossing the Rubicon in the Cowboys endeavor to get back in the playoffs. Divisional games should be motivation enough to get the job done but in this case considering the repercussions of losing, motivation to win this one game should not be hard to find. Lose this one and your goal for the season changes from playoffs to spoiler. Romo won't be perfect when he gets back. The Panthers and Packers will have a say in our success, so win now and those games won't sink our season.

For some reason, we like to bunch up the middle of the field when we want to run and spread out the defense when we want to pass -- and rarely do the opposite. It drives me crazy.

Hmmmmmm........... I don't want to mention it because the jackals might hear it but............

Could that be a coaching issue?

The problem is with 4 WR's, you only have 5 blocking, so a 6 man defensive front still works. Unless you bring a TE in motion to wham block someone, it makes no difference.

And why is having Witten in the line stop from splitting him out?

I thought you were going to say Kellen Moore. ;)

Honestly, I thought this was going to be a post about Kellen Moore or some practice squad player from Boise on the Ravens or something.

I thought there would be a picture of Romo.

Im not so sure 4 wides is the answer, but the most definitely need to give up on the 12 personnel. Someone posted a while back they've averaged something like 1 yard per play in 12 personnel since they've been trying to run it.

While watching that Packer/Bronco game....Denver really had some sweet trap blocks that opened up some holes. Really liked some of their blocking concepts. And with the talent we have a G...IMO could really open gapping holes for Mcfadden to get to the 2nd level.

Yep - the only thing we like more than 12 on first down is 22 on first down.

The Four Horseman would be proud.

Our coaches fear change.

If you haven't seen that Bronco/Packer game...I strongly suggest it. Denver basically had 2 sets. 4wrs/ single back.....and then they would run 2wrs/2TEs...w/both TE's to the same side...and run stretch plays like us....or some counter cutback plays. They were pretty creative sneaking out the TEs in that 2 TE set as well. Alot to be learned from that tape. I'm sure other teams are gonna looking @ that to see what Denver did to expose the Packers like that.

when are people going to get it. Under Garrett, if it works, we either abandon it or we dont do it. How hard is this?!??!

Yep. There are so any games where this has happened. The one that jumps out the most is GB two years ago. They couldn't stop Murray. It was working, so they quit. Meanwhile, they come back from a 21 point defecit.
