Honestly, I thought this was going to be a post about Kellen Moore or some practice squad player from Boise on the Ravens or something.

Lmao. I did too. Or the usual "Cmike is an idiot" rant.

Good info Floaty. I don't think we would allow ourselves to run without Witten on the field primarily due to his ability to draw double teams. Having him in there often opens up single coverage for a receiver or the underneath stuff to a rb. Good points though. Spreading defenses out will also open up more running lanes....
Perhaps Jason & crew will susprise us Sunday night.

Just got done breaking down the Packer/Broncos beatdown.....So what does this have to do w/ the Cowboys?

Good question....

Noticed how the Broncos were using 4 wrs to force the Packers into their nickle package. 6 guys in the box.....always. Then it occurred to me why doesn't Dallas do that?

Single RB...4 WRs......Our offensive line should feast having to block only 6 in the box. And Demerius Thomas was 1 on 1 the whole time. Think Dez would like that?

Don't think the Cowboys do it because they feel obligated to have Witten in the lineup. But w/ that you have another LBer on the field.

Just thought I'd share. Packers looked really vulnerable on D.

And if you haven't seen that game you should check it out. Cowboys could learn alot from that tape on the Packers.

They could split Witten out wide which they do at times.

You can't take Witten off the field to get more snaps for Street or Lucky.

It is interesting that your take from that game was the Broncos offense againts the Packers defense. The amazing in that game was what the Broncos defense did against Rodgers. I have not seen him look that lost ever.

No, just a post about replacing Witten with Street or Whitehead.

The whole point of going w/ 4wrs is to get teams to match up CBs vs WRs. Keeping Witten in the game defeats the purpose. As soon as you leave TEs in the slot....defenses start bringing in LBers...and they get involved in stopping the run game. Denver put on a clinic the other night on how to spread a defense...to open up the running game...even w/ their pedestrian OL. If we could just adapt to some of those concepts....W/ the talent we have....my god we couldn't be stopped....regardless of who is playing QB.
The passes Manning was completing weren't high risk throws.

I like it. (but JG won't). It's too creative which falls outside of the convention strategy we've beaten into the ground over the past 5 weeks.

Just watched the Seahawks game again this morning.....2 things really stood out...

1. Our TEs can't block...and I mean none of them. And why we continue to trot out that worthless 3 TE set is beyond me. We don't throw to the TEs in that formation....so we are not fooling anyone.

2. Doug Free is beyond horrible. People laugh when I say our winning streak last year started when Free broke his foot and was gone for the year.....but I don't think that is a coincidence. I'm not saying Parnell was a world beater....But Free kills so many drives for us....something needs to be done.

We really let one get away last week....And I fear that could haunt us later in the year. That silly time out fiasco/12 men on the field no penalty for Seattle was huge. That one play totally changed that game. We had momentum....And if we get that 1st down...I think we score a TD instead of a field goal...and it's a completely different ball game.

Also wanted to add...that is related to this origanal post....Not once did we lineup in a 4 WR/1 back set. Sometimes we would go w/ a no back look....and spread the field w/ the RB and TE split out wide....But we never threatened to run the ball. Why we are so fixated on our TEs is beyond me. There not that great. and we sure as hell don't know how to use them...besides Witten.

That's how they should've used Weeden.

Just spread teams out with 4 and 5 wide.

This is too much for Garrett to handle

I'll say this...I'm really starting to have my doubts about Linehan. 0 creativity..... Guy was fired for a reason in St. Louis....It amazes me... none of our WRS ever seem to get open. And It didn't matter who was QB...because I watched the 1st Eagles game again this morning as well.....And Romo was checking down just as much as Weedon or Cassel. That Eagles game was beyond ugly. Can't believe I made it through that again.....
