I just wish everyone would drop their preconceived opinions about Owens and base their opinion of him on what he has done since he has been here.

won't ever happen. "preconceived" - is this before or after he upset a lot of fans with the star incident?

is this before or after he had to cry his way out of the SF contract he was legally bound to due to his OWN inaction?

is this before or after he refused to be traded to baltimore in a "legal and should have been binding" trade due to the statement above?

is this before or after he had the class of the school bully when he chose to dog on teammates in a team sport?

TO has given people a LOT of reasons to hate him. NO ONE ELSE DID THIS! yes the media picks it up and expands up on it - it's what they do. but if you follow back to the "source" it's TO. the media didn't create TO and they don't make him do the stupid things he does all the time.

i've put aside much of my own hatred for TO and am trying to do what you're pointing to. but some people won't be able to do it and the media will never leave the story alone.

again, would you feel this passionate about giving TO a chance if he were on another team?

I could care less if he were on another team. It's all about the 'Boys for me. :D

I agree, if not for his history the media would not be on him but when you build a reputation as TO has of course he is going to be in the media eye and to add to it TO does not shy away from the media he helps to create the story by not thinking before speaking. It is easy to throw blame on the media when you don't like what they are saying yet I never hear complaints when the media is talking positive about the Cowboys.

I disagree to an extent. I think the media drove TO to the personality that he is by reporting every move he made. If that hadn't been the case, TO would be a much less controversial character.

TO sought out the media and they obliged. both are responsible.

this is *my* problem. i won't "love" to simply because he's a cowboy and i don't demand the world give him another chance - just because he's a cowboy.

we got TO for good, bad, indifferent. whining about the bad won't make it go away and comes across hypocritical.

i can see that, and a valid counter point. but this is the nature of the media and no, i don't excuse "them" (media) of their own responsiblity either. but if TO shut up and just quit talking to the media, the fire would go down, but not out. not for TO. he's got this rap for the rest of his career and will be talked about long after he's out of the league.

but i agree, give the media a golden heaping helping of juicy story, they're on it.

Exactly. When Philly signed him I saw many post around here of people laughing at Philly saying how it would blow up in their face yet now well it is the media fault or someone else’s fault. I would love nothing more than for this to work out but based on what I have seen over TO career well excuses me for being skeptical about it.

I guess that's where we differ, everything changes for me if the player is a Cowboy. I've always been that way, .. they are one of my boys and I will stick by them.

I guess that comes from raising two ornery boys, being ornery myself, and coaching a ton of ornery boys too.

Oh, BTW, I have my strengths and weaknesses, but I don't think I am a hypocrite. I don't do one thing and say another or say one thing and do another.
I pretty much am what I am. I'm not too hard to figure out.

I wouldnt have a problem with them speaking the truth nor speculating on a conservative level. But to come out and totally invent/Create something up just to sell is Complete BULL!.

What happened in Philly is nothing like this. behind the sceens something wasnt right But Here in Dallas there isnt a damn thing going on. Their taking an INjury to spark the fire and turn things around, switch words around and ask questions that lead to nothing more heated debate about " I told you so".

Call me a Idiot all you want, I know what I see and it's straight up WRONG!.

First, you don't know what's happening behind the scenes.

Second, I'm not criticizing you for your disdain of the media. I'm criticizing you for saying you want to physically hurt someone because they are merely spouting their opinion.

Third, what did you guys expect when the Cowboys signed TO? A lovefest?

This was to be expected so I temper my feelings about the situation with that knowledge.

It's nothing to get one's blood pressure up over, IMO.

P.S. "Idiot" was a bit strong of me to use. I don't think you're an idiot.

Passionate, maybe, but not an idiot. :)

my values to me are more important than a game or a game allegance. i won't "pardon" a player because they put on a silver star. i won't love him for the same reasons when i hated everything about him up to that point. but if you can suddenly forgive and forget and take on the battlecry to SAVE TO FROM THE MEDIA *only* because he's a cowboy - then whatever you call it we do most certainly have a different set of values. no, i won't say one is better than the other, but they are very different.

if the only reason you now wanna see TO get a "fair shake" is because he's a cowboy, at the very minimum that's self-serving and just not gonna happen. if you didn't care when he was an eagle, or even dove into the bashing - then yes, i do find that hypocritical but realize not all will do the same.

Maybe that's where we have the misunderstanding, I never disliked Owens, never bashed him, I even saw some things I liked about him, especially as a competitor.

I have never had to forgive and forget, because I never had anything against him. He never did anything to me or mine so I only had a distant opinion of him.

If the media spoke the truth, I would have no issues with that.

But when they create and invent stuff, that doesn't sit well with me.

Now that he is in Dallas, I will disapprove if he does something that I feel is out of line, but will defend him, or any Cowboy, if I think they are getting a bum deal.

I think he is getting a bum deal right now over nothing.

i agree he's getting monkey poo flung on him but he's been the target for awhile, that won't change.

and if you never hated TO, then sure - i much more understand your point and my "hypocracy" statement is misplaced - my apologies.

Tell us how you really feel! Don't Sugarcoat it.

They could have made the same fuss over Hines Ward who is currently ailing with the same injury and he's missed as much or more camp than Terrell. The "Stealers"(of the Lombardi) are in bigger trouble than us if they don't have Hines Ward on opening day because we have better receivers sans Terrell Owens than they do sans Hines Ward.

Why isnt' this a story on ESPN?

Hines Ward has only been with Pitt for 9 years now, I think he understand the steelers offense and has pleanty of time under his belt with Roethlisberger. How long as TO been here? how much time has he worked with Bledsoe?

T.O. and Steve Smith missed about the same amount of practices. So i don't care what the media says.
