The 2 consistent major weapons the Bears have is the defense and special teams. As for their offense at times they look great and others like they have no clue.

As far as punt returns I would have McBriar working on punting it 45 yards out of bounds every time.

Rome, or San Diego's defense, was not built in a day

And at this point, our offense may be good enough to beat people by themselves

I would hope that we will try to kick to the sidelines or hang them high to allow coverage down field.

We're good enough to be 2-0. Our defense hasn't been top notch, but I think we will get there.

Now if you want to play what ifs, what if TO hadn't dropped 3 passes. What if Ratliffe hadn't been held on that one TD. What if Crayton hadn't muffed that punt, he had a wide open field.

What if my aunt had balls......then he'd be my uncle.

None of those things happened, so let's enjoy the win, and look forward to improvements and a great season.

Ha Ha Ha ! I love your humor ! BIG BALLS !

doesnt mean too much right now... but when it hits... lookout....

IMO, the Cowboys are more about offense than defense, for now.
And that's a fundamental change from the Parcells years.

There will be games in which Romo's offense sputters. Here's hoping that the defense will be ready to step it up then.

The good news is that several inexperienced defensive players are getting valuable game experience and the team is winning anyway. Not bad.

Against the Bears, I wouldn't mind Jacque Reeves giving a large cushion. Grossman can basically only throw it deep.

There's no reason to be a downer this morning. We ALL know that we have a lot of work to do, but all are very excited to see our D MAKE PLAYS. They were the main reason we won. The offense just did what it was supposed to do.
Again we have plenty of work to do.....but let people enjoy this 2-0......it's been a while!

It's just that we've seen flashes of this before from last year. We beat two very bad teams (Houston and Tennessee). All of a sudden, everyone was ecstatic. Then we lose to Philadelphia.

We then go on a a great winning streak beating quality opponents. Then we self-implode against New Orleans and Philly.

I'll take part in the optimism if we beat the Bears in Chicago. Until then, we still haven't beaten a quality opponent.

What if they tie the Bears? Does that force you to push back judgement until the next week?

Fact of the matter is, the truth be told if we played against a Brady, Brees, Peyton, Palmer, Hasselback, etc they would of lit this same defense up again for the 5th or 6th consective regular season game. If we want to win in the playoffs and go to the Superbowl we will need to shut down those QB's i just mentioned. THere are no Trent Green's in the playoffs. Going back to last season against the Saints we have given up 42 to them, 25 to Philly, 39 to Detriot, 35 to the Giants, and 28 to the Falcons. If we played against a slighty better QB I am confident we would had been in another 35-33 game. All Im asking from the D is to show me something. The last time we had a solid defensive outing was when we beat the Colts. THis week is a lose lose situation. If we hold the Bears to 17 points or less it wouldnt be looked at as anything speacil as they only score between 10-20 points a game. But, if they put more than 24 up on us then it was a failure. If we dont sure up our D in 2 weeks, I beileve we play the Rams with Holt, Bruce, Jackson, and Bulger I think thats a 38-35 game.
I'll give you Brady and possibly Manning, but the Colts did not look like world-beaters yesterday.

This is the same Brees that is 0-2 in New Orleans, Palmer that did not pick apart the Browns for a victory, Hasselback that lost to Arizona, and Bulger that lost to the 49ers.

Yeah there's a lot of passing yardage in there, but where are those winning point totals? Sure it's a team game, but you act like just because they step on the field, it's time to panic.

The results from yesterday seem to indicate something else.

It amazing me how people call NFL teams "very bad".....They are NFL teams! Out of the two that you mentioned, one turned into a world beater at the end of the season and the other is 2-0 this year. Not signs of a "very bad" team. On the flip side New Orleans was "very bad" then turned "very good" but now is "very bad" again. The level of competition is very close in the NFL...it's not like USC beating SMU in college.

[The Browns scored 51 on the Bengals...and won!][The Browns would be considered "very bad" if we beat them yesterday]

I don't think anyone is chugging down the kool-aid, but at the same time, yesterday was a big step in the right direction.:starspin

We beat a 1 playoff team from last season in NY and beat a good defensive team at their place. Chances are Dallas will win some games that we should lose and lose some games we should win but I think fans have every right to be optimistic about this team that has some very good talent on it and honestly I think this team will only improve as the players get more familiar with the system and the coaches get more familiar with the players. It is nice being 2-0 and knowing that there is room for improvement.

How can you say Palmer did not pick apart the Browns he threw for 401 yards and 6 tds. What else can you ask from the guy.

Guys Im a big Cowboys fan like you but you need to be impartiel for a minute here. If you think for one minute that our defense is ok I would like you to think about that again. It's defintly not a Superbowl type defense right now. I dont care if were missing Greg Ellis either because even if he does come back hes probably going to do poorly if you look at the history of players coming back from that injury. They need usually 2 years. Newman will help Ill give you that though. I know your all happy from the win and so am I but look at who we played and look at what happed. Today, if Miami had a half decent QB, besides a washed up Trent Green, they probably score at least 30. The one pass that Hamlin intercepted if he puts that pass on the money [ he over threw him by about 5 feet and Chambers was wide open] Chambers has nothing but the whole field to himself if you rewatch the tape. And, What about that great showing we had at the end of the first half giving up like 70 yards in like 3 seconds. Green was throwing to guys that were not open by feet, but by yards, and the one down the middle on third down there was no one within 10 yards of him. In the second half I dont know what Green was doing he was just missing open recievers. Henery had a legit pick I will give him credit but the one that Roy and Hamlin got was not from their coverage but from horrible throws. Pass rush???? What pass rush??? Spencer was non existent today and Ware got close a few times but for the majority of the game he was a non-factor. On top of this, I wasnt too thrilled about our run defense either. We should thank Miami for forgetting about Ronnie Brown. Granted we had our moments with success but also we gave up alot of 7 yard runs. Im looking at the big picture and that is the playoffs.

With all the negativity aside, I would like to say good game to Bradie today. He was all over the place. Roy had a nice game too along with Henry. Good game guys but we cant score 35 every week. I love our O though, theyre doing awesome.

ps, Im not trying to be negativity but this is what I see from the team. The D needs to improve some and were be ok.

I know what your saying but I think you're preaching to the choir. I'm willing to bet, from reading the posts on this forum, that 90% of the posters here feel that the defense still needs a lot of improvement. We did see some after week 1 but it needs to continue. Do you really think you are the only one that sees that?
