Romo is a terrific quarterback, but he has an undeniable history of creating some clumsy plays in critical situations.

I think it's the level of excellence he displays so often that makes his bonehead plays all the more unbearable. He goes from one of the best in the game to a throwing a head scratcher in the blink of an eye.

He will bounce back. He always does. But will we find ourselves right back in this same spot in the not too distant future?
This sums up Tony Romo perfectly.

Ditto!

Between the fumble and the pick I agree Romo sucks tonight!

Craig

Sanchez had a fumble and a pick too, it happens. The Jets have a great defense

Hey let's trade him for Big Ben!!! Oh wait... 5 turnovers!! Ahhhh!
If Romo would have led us to a couple rings or even one ring I could live with this from him time to time but he always chokes. You cannot compare him with any of the qbs who stunk before that have rings. He is no better then any average qb.Eli manning at least led his team once to a ring. Romo just cannot handle the pressure . He just is NOT a big game Qb ever.

They didn't win the game on defense, we put 24 pts up on them. All offensive. Could have, and should have, been more too. We gave the game away, I don't really think there's any other way to look at it.

It's a good sign for the team that we put up that many points against their defense, but definitely not a good thing that we still found a way despite dominating the game, on all fronts, for 3 quarters.

The fumble was on Romo. Dez blew the rout though. And it's not TOny's fault the kick was block for 6.

I was watching the game with my son who is a packer fan and before Romo fumbled we both agreed turnover Romo was going to show up. Bam there it is a fumble, then throwing the ball to a receiver who is clearly injured and cant run. Dont blame Dez for not running the route right cuz we dont know what the play called for. As long turnover Romo is QB the Boys will not win big games or the superbowl.

Yup, he's often the reason we win and sometimes the reason we lose. I like Romo, really and truely, but I need to be able to trust him in situation like last night. He has to be the guy that puts the games like that away for us.

This is exactly right. With the acknowledgement that *all* QBs are going to lose games for their teams from time to time. We have a lot of heartbreakers, in part because he gets us in position to win most of the time. In part because we're still making the mistakes that cause you to get beat by good teams. I believe Garrett's working on it; I don't know how long it's going to take or if he's going to get us there, but it's what needs to happen to get us over the hump.

Had we avoided any one of a handful of bad plays, we would have walked out of NY with a win as big as the New Orleans game from 2009. It would have been a great way to start the season. Instead, we lost our first game by less than a touchdown this season. We had 8 of those last year.

I hear ya, but I dunno if that's a fair statement. At the end of the day, sure it goes down as a loss by less than a TD.

But we gave up 17 pts in 12 minutes in the 4th quarter. When they bring up all those "close loss" stats, the context is kind of ignored. That's a bad loss, a lot worse than "we lost by 3".

All this hating on Romo but the truth is there is no replacement. Either you guys are blind or just plain dumb because franchise QB's are not easy to find. You think it can't get worst but the reality is it can be worse and it has been worse.
I think we all realize that franchise QB's don't grow on trees and we don't have any other options. The point is, Romo is not the guy either that will lead the team to the superbowl. We are stuck with someone that can't get it done. Therefor, frustration and resentment ensues.

If the worst thing that happens to you is fumbling away the ball at their goal line, you will have lived a pretty good life.

Anybody that thinks we'll ever win anything w/ this guy is kidding themselves. He shows the leadership of a sheep. How many times as he thrown a game away? He did it in last year's opener and now this. I really hate this guy...

Umm Alex Barron screwed us in that game bro. Not Romo. Romo completed the last pass of the game to RW to win us the game. Barron got called for the hold.

Here is my problem with Romo, when he makes crucial mistakes he looks suicidal.
Interesting. I've read lots of other posts today complaining that he smiles when he makes mistakes.

Romo said it best. He cost them the game last night. Disappointing to hear from your franchise QB who no longer can use the excuse of being young and inexperienced.

The truth is he may never be anything more than a tease.

I think Romo does think this way to an extent.

I just don't get the feeling that things like this bother him as much as we would like to think it does.

I have no proof...JMO.

The thing i'm most frustrated/bitter about is when you look at Aaron Rodgers and Tony Romo at this point in their careers.

All of a sudden Rodgers is supremely confident and unflappable while we still go through the same rollercoaster with Romo year after year. It would be a great thing to see as a cowboy fan if he ever breaks through and becomes that guy. I thought it would be after '09 but obviously it wasn't the case.
First of all, Rodgers is better than Romo. If anything less than Rodgers-level play is frustrating, then expect to be frustrated.

Second, Rodgers has had some stinkers too. He was lousy against the Bears in the NFCCG last year, with 2 interceptions. They won because of their own INT return.
