Anybody ever notice that members with less than 100 posts know everything. People should just stop posting after their post count hits 100 because all of the real experts are the ones with under 100 posts. The super-duper experts are the ones with under 10 posts.

Thanks for enlightening us Mr. 6 posts count.

he's likely right tho. unless he's traded on draft day for a 2014 pick, which can always be undone due to a failed physical.

I think people should realize before teams make trades for players (especially ones on a franchise tag) they want to have their doctors clear them and even know if a long term deal can be worked out. So the chances he gets dealt on draft day is 0%
WILL NOT HAPPEN sorry for bursting that bubble

While I agree it is unlikely, since player trades in the NFL are scarce, I do not understand your reasoning. A trade can be made conditional on the player passing a physical -- especially, since Spencer has no known injuries. As for a new contract, of course any team would want to know if the player can be signed to mutually agreeable terms. This can be easily accomplished by requesting permission from the Cowboys to speak with his agent. If the Cowboys are interested in the deal, they would readily grant that permission.

There is plenty of time to work something out between now and Thursday.

It is probably not going go happen, but there are no structural impediments. It doesn't happen very often, but players, including starters, have been traded during the draft.

He was an OLB in the 3-4, not DE. I believe he will do fine in the 4-3 DE spot though, I'm hoping for 8+ sacks from him this year...

Having said that if a stud DE falls to us in the first 2 rounds I would pull the trigger...:D

Problem is as a 43 DE I see him as a Weakside DE. He'll be on the strong side with us.

Yes, I know the Colts put out 2 undersized DE's in their defense for years... but their defenses sucked for years too. I'd love to get the sack production that Mathis/Freeney had, but not at the expense of getting completely ran over in the running game.

I'm all for trading SPencer on draft day (I'd like to give Crawford a shot at SDE), I just don't see it happening.

I second that. Seriously... measuring one's football knowledge based on post count?

That's just plain ignorant.

xWalker... you need to get outside and breath some fresh air.

Yeah, that was my reaction as well. Somebody is taking this message board thing a little too serious.

If it is a straight player for player trade, true, there is not a issue. However, a trade for draft choices must complete prior to the selection of the pick. Spencer would need to pass a physical, which means travel to the acquiring team's facilities. Plus, no one will trade for a signed franchised player unless a new contract framework exists, if not an agreement.

Yes, it's possible. But unless the trade occurs Monday, it won't happen in time for the 2013 draft.

I think this has almost no chance of happening but if it did I could see something like spencer for jabaal sheard or attaya rubin and a fourth.
They get the better player but we get the space to go sign a clabo or perhaps smith at that point b
The destination has to have a lot of cap space and thse guys were very good 43 players. Their current president is the former cowboys vp and atty.

One thing I know for certain is that when Spencer was off the field teams ran all over us. I wonder if dude is bulking up some to play down...

I would hope so, but not too much. Don't want him to lose his agility/quickness.

Lol sorry pal, I guess I need permission for speaking my mind. Maybe I don't understand the reasoning for this site, which I thought was for cowboys fans to come and share their thoughts. Next time I post I will ask if its alright with XWalker, thanks for the clarification. Also just cause you post what u think eighty times a day doesn't mean u know more than anyone on hear bud, just means u like talk.

That's all I was trying to say before getting beaked.

How bout a more realistic question: If a beast DE falls to us, do we draft him and trade Spencer after the draft for a pick in 2014?

Generally, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Spencer is NFL proven; the potential rookies are not. Two and six is not enough, even though it relieves the cap.

If you can get a 2nd a 6th, sure. But do you really think we could get that?

I think you could get 3rd round pick for him. But at this stage he is proven NFL player (not dominant) but he knows his role. I would let him ride out his one year deal and draft a DE this year.

Please note that the Jets just traded Darrelle Revis to Tampa Bay for draft picks. The Bucs required a physical, but Revis had had recent knee surgery. Obviously, the Bucs and Revis were able to work out that contract framework in advance.

I really don't know why you would say Monday is the deadline. Even if a physical is imperative, it would seem that that could be done as late as Wednesday or even Thursday morning if everything else is in place. How many days does it take to visit another city these days?

Obviously, significant negotiations would need to take place many days in advance. But, we might not hear about it at all until draft day.

I'm not saying that any of this is at all likely for Spencer, but, for all we know the Cowboys have been working on this since March. :)

OK, you could ask permission or you could just avoid saying things like:
"So the chances he gets dealt on draft day is 0% WILL NOT HAPPEN sorry for bursting that bubble."
You were basically saying that the OP and anyone that agreed with him were 100% wrong and that you were 100% correct. Using all caps is always going to get some kickback because it is an annoying in-your-face style of posting.

I was not even in agreement with the OP that you were calling out. I just don't like people making absolute proclamations that their opinion is absolutely correct.
