Many don't want to be HCs.

Jim Johnson is a better DC than Garrett ever has a prayer to be an OC. Does he suck?

Yeah there are a couple who wouldn't make that move but every other one would.

Let me ask you, why was he brought in to interview?

Reputation for the most part. Garrett's been around the league for a long time, and I certainly don't think he is dumb by any stretch. Probably will be a good coach someday, although most guys have payed a lot more dues than he has to get where he is.

He was offered job last year because the offense was for the most part great. I'm not going to conjecture on Sparano, etc, but there was a clear performance reason for him to be interviewed.

He got no job offers this year - even interviewing with one of the same guys who offered him a job last year, because he underachieved this year.

Next year if things are similar he won't get even interviews.

Garrett's potential has been hyped for a while, and I would bet he is fantastic sitting in an office talking about football. Sitting in an inverview and actual job performance are two different things though.

So far in two years as an OC he's had an up year (with training wheels) and a down year. I admit to being mystified why anyone would be excited by his performance to date.

He started 12-1....since then not so good....10-10. The offense failed at the end of last year and again this year. He's on probation.

Because teams were wowed with his ability to turn a roster full of Pro Bowlers into the 18th ranked offense in the league?

Why has Herm Edwards gotten 2 NFL head coaching jobs? Because he's twice the football coach as Monte Kiffen? As in any business it helps to be a good salesman, especially when it comes to selling yourself. Some people are better salesmen than football coaches. Maybe one day Garrett will be half as good in the film room as he is in the interview room.

Rex Ryan doesn't have a head coaching job as well, and he has done way more than Garrett ever has...
