The one thing he has done in his career to get recognition is that he heavily practiced one-handed catches (seriously, he promoted the fact he spent a lot of time practicing one-handed catches), which helped him make highlight reels for spectacular catches. He did this though wearing gloves that do most of the work.

He's a 5'11 receiver whose quickness has been impacted heafvily by multiple injuries in recent years. I am not saying he is a bad receiver, but he has never been anything special.

He had one or two good seasons when he entered the NFL years ago and he has been living off them ever since. His greatest highlight reel catch was against the Cowboys in 2015 (7 years ago) in a game his team actually lost.

NFL history is littered with 1-2 year wonders that were anointed future Hall of Famers only to see their careers nose-dive in subsequent years due to injuries or the rest of the league figuring out how to stop them.

If OBJ was healthy, I could see the Cowboys adding him as a 3rd receiver, but at this point, I trust James Washington's recovery more than I do OBJ's.

You can not want obj without diminishing his career….he was a pretty special player and has had some great moments. Injuries and towards the end terrible teams affected his career immensely

....Probably been listening to Skip Bayless too much during the "Baker Defense". He is not a bad WR, given the accumulation of injuries and being with a decent QB less than more, during his career.

Had a big start to his pro career and has been more hype than anything since.

Plus you have to factor this in even if you don't want to hear it. Jerry really wants to do this. Not the scouts, not the coaches. Jerry is the one that wants this. You can make a pretty sound bet betting against his instincts.

which also means if they don’t do it then there’s real red flags because Jerry was drooling over this

Talented for sure but he is well past his prime plus he is a total flake. There is a reason he has bounced around the last few years. I don’t even know why any team would bring him in.

I only wanted him as another piece to the puzzle. The threat. I didn’t expect him to come in and dominate. Now that he’s not healthy I don’t care. Washington can give you what he can now that he’s finally ready.

I’m not for or against OBJ but he was on his way to winning Super Bowl MVP before the injury.

I like all, but the sad attempt at a thread title. Other than that, it's a fair assessment.

Agree with all of the OP.

I do think if he were ready as once anticipated that he would be ready for action about this time (mid-December), I'd have wanted to see him signed. He's at best a #2 receiver for most teams, but he's certainly a solid #3 guy. And as was noted in one of the podcasts yesterday (by Eatman?), if he's going against the other team's third best CB, you have to like the odds he can be all the more productive.

But as we all know, he's not ready and not likely to be ready for weeks still. So, yes, attention turns to Washington.

In his first three season he averaged 1,375 yards per season and double digit TD's. He might be living off the past now but when he hit the league the hype was warranted and I don't really understand how you can not see it or think he just had some sort of novelty trick (one hand catch).

Definition of a guy who got too famous too quickly. Went straight to his head. Injuries added to the decline.

I will not lose any sleep over not adding him to the team.

Then you haven’t paid attention if you think “he only had two good seasons.”

Because he dislikes said player so there’s no objectivity involved.

I would have been ok either way if he signed or did not sign. But was leaning more to not signing, as I want to see what Washington can do once he returns.
Hopefully that is soon.

I rarely listen to any sports commentators, especially scripted ones like Bayless, SAS, etc.

As for injuries, I pointed that out specifically as the reason he has not been anything special since his first couple of seasons.
