I have to give Mike Zimmer his credit

I think we expected this defense to be able to come out of the gate firing when it often takes a while for players to adapt to a new system. Then, on top of that, we were trying to adapt while key starters were missing time. Now, we're even overcoming missing players like Overshown and with Kendricks even sitting out.
Right but I think we expected some flaws but what was sold to us was an improvement and an emphasis on stopping the run game. And they come out the gate with that Saints game that looked eerily similar to the Packers loss. Those losses don’t happen. Especially as frequent as it happened. The injury but hurt them and I think we need to change coaches but with coaching changes I always say be careful what you wish for because the grass isn’t always greener ask Mike Nolan fans…..

I'm impressed with Zim...but only to a point if the Cowboys have a lead.

Watching Baker perform surgery that TD drive at the end of the game was painful to watch. 9-9???
He's got his flaws, but a lot of those (like with most good coaches) are personnel related. I think if we had had a healthy Diggs, Bland and Lewis playing all season, we'd be talking about how great this secondary is. Instead, we've had a rookie late-round pick, a failed corner picked up a player swap for another failed corner, a practice squad UDFA and an unwanted cast-off manning a starting spot at various times this year. A bunch of cheap backups on the field out of necessity.

who are the good defensive coordinators to you? The ones that don't blow double digit leads. Help me understand.
Quinn was better than Mike......Not to say he didn't have his flaws too. But what made Quinn good was (for the most part) once he got a team behind down and distance.....He was gonna bring pressure....and man up.....He wasn't gonna have this soft zone......just giving up easy yards like Mike does.

Quinn's way....lead to more turnovers. He was always creating some type of pressure.......making the offense react to him.

Instead.....With Mike.....he's reacting to what the offense is doing....instead of creating havoc.

And Mike loves that single high safety crap.....It's amazing we don't get beat deep more often...because Hooker just doesn't have the speed to cover from sideline to sideline.

This defense has a ton of injuries and has virtually no DL, yet they stifled one of the best offenses in the league.

Shoutout to J Lew, Bland, and A.O for doing a good job in the secondary
Zimmer has been outstanding.

I don't disagree.

I think Quinn received too much blame from fans, like Zimmer does, when things went wrong. A lot of the time these guys are working with a patchwork lineup both because of injuries and because of the failures of this front office. They have their flaws, too, but give them the players and they can get the job done.

You mean like the 3rd and 9 1:29 mark? Yea that's some awesome man coverage buddy. And don't be so dense to think I can't provide plenty more. You don't know what you're talking about

I'm watching more of this comedy. Bland playing 10 yards off on a tight end 4:20 mark  I thought only Zimmer dbs played off? Oh ok

Reminded me of 2003…get the lead and the defense caves…that being said we can do worse than Zimmer at DC.

I will say this about that playoff loss to Green Bay.....I have no idea what Quinn was doing that day. We hadn't done that all year. That was by far the most passive game plan Quinn had all year. I'm still perplexed. I honestly didn't even recognize that defense....nor the game plan. I bet the players were just as confused about that game plan as many of us were. Looking back....I will always think maybe Quinn was just too busy trying to interview for the Washington job.....and he left the game plan to the assistants.

I can find games besides that one but it won't matter. People who say Zimmer is a bad DC either don't know football or are emotional fans. You can decide your category. I'm done with the topic

That's what happens when you allocate 2/3s of your cap dollars to the offense.

I have to admit it. They look like a legit defense and I still think they're lacking a big time DT. Tampa is an 8-7 team but that offense just lit up the chargers for 40 last week.

Just want to remind the lets bring McCarthy back folks, 5 years, 1 playoff win vs an awful tampa team. We have seen regular season wins before. Tap the Brakes.

Or maybe Jerry had hinted that Quinn would coach the Cowboys and changed his mind. We all know how hard it is to read into what Jerry is saying. Maybe that game was a big ** to this organization.

I think a lot of it had to do with Gilmore being hurt. We changed up our coverage because he was playing with a separated shoulder and we didn't want him pressing as much. Having lost Diggs early to his season-ending knee injury, we didn't have to depth to go without Gilmore in that playoff game.
