I just audited Demarcus Ware's tax return!

I am more impressed that you live in Detroit. Take care of yoself.

LOL. We do have some issues with crime, but I don't know if you're aware of our bankruptcy. We had to settle to keep them from completely robbing our pensions and annuities. It's tough living here for more reasons than one.

Still -- and I am not joking -- take care of yoself and yours and good luck with the asertoid (see my game-day menu post!!)

I can't give any specifics for obvious reasons, but I'm a tax auditor for the City of Detroit and I've come across various pro athlete's returns but this was my first (ex) Dallas Cowboy. He only played one game here last year so the audit was for that portion of his income. You all might think it's silly, but I am so giddy right now.:D

Pics or it didn't happen.

J/K cool story.

The cynical side of me says, it will never happen because it would work - but lawyers and govt and tax beaurocrats would be less in demand

Simplicity is less money for lawyers, bureaucrats and accountants.

A national sales tax to replace the income tax has a lot of really good benefits. It automatically increases the amount of money from imports, foreign visitors, illegal aliens, etc.. It would take away all of the stress of income tax filing from individuals. It eliminates all of the complicated tax savings plans like 401k, etc. because if you don't spend you don't get taxed.

At least you got the chance to watch the RedWings I envy you

I'm not too crazy about any of the local teams, but there's a buzz around the Red Wings with their new arena being built. My late father was a big fan. They're quite popular here.

this is why cities love to fund stadiums...they get big $$$ in their eyes knowing whom will be playing there.

I drove through Detriot from the main highway to the Cathedral about 6 years ago.
Not a pretty sight.

You probably shouldn't have mentioned you audited his return either.

I don't see the harm in it. I don't use my real name here and tax auditor is not my official title. It's one of the duties of the title. Plus I gave no specifics of the audit. Just sharing something I thought was pretty cool.

I'd rather be mauled by a Bear than live in Detroit or NY

Cool story though

North Carolina is not one of them?

hell no. 7.85 % when I was there, plus there "partial residence" if you have out of state tax or move is punitive. My wife (not at the time) got laid off from her pharma sales job and they tax unemployment as well.

Moving from NC to Cal wasnt that big of a shock in the tax department
