San Diego did not even suit up RB LaDanian Tomlinson, TE Antonio Gates, LT Marcus McNeill, WR Vincent Jackson, C Nick Hardwick, FB Andrew Pinnock, WR Billy Pittman, or WR Legedu Naanee.

Not a very good test of our first string D, in this game, I think!

Every damn preseason it's the same thing. Apparently, losing a game when you're 3rd stringers are playing their 3rd stringers is a sign of regular season success to some of you guys.

You DO realize that 7 Super Bowl Champions went winless in the preseason? Including Dallas twice?

Our first team DOMINATED on both sides of the ball in the first quarter. That's all that should matter. We dominated arguably the most talented team in football. What our 2nd stringers did against their first stringers means NOTHING unless you think we will have 22 guys on IR come september.

I agree...I am really concerned about our ST play. I never thought I'd actually miss Bruce DeHaven but even the crappy job he did coaching ST looks good next to what we have now.

I think it's b/c of 2 plays-the 2nd Skins game in '06 where we snatched defeat from the hands of victory, and, of course, the blunder in the Seattle playoff game.

Honestly-neither were his fault. It was just dumb luck, that's all.

I came away with a couple of things last night.........................


We need our coverage teams to get a lot better than last night and last season, that was really bad and could cost us our season in the end.

I know Austin showed promise but with the addition of Felix to this offense if we had a HEALTHY Terry Glenn, this offense would be better than the Patriots of last season. Truly a damn shame TG couldn't make it back healthy.

Even though Newman didn't play our secondary is going to be insane this season. The depth is really remarkable and this was ultimately our down fall last season so we really should be as good as any other team in the NFL now.

And oh yeah, Chris Simms 8-10 passing last night.

Jerry make the call or sign him ASAP if cut at the end of camp.

well i'm sure to those saying it they are. but to who they're talking to, i'm sure in their mind they are too. if you go into a discussion arguing you're gonna argue. people react 90% of the time and think 10%. we all do.

but i've been working on those percentages. : )

it's not easy. someone does something you don't like your first reaction is to usually what you do.

"react". i've gotten burned on that enough to where putting thought into it first comes into play cause usually i just don't have the energy i used to for an argument that never ends.

You can't guage anything from preseason games, though fans will never cease trying.

It's a mistake to try to measure yourself against another team in preseason. Teams are holding out key players. (TO for example for you guys, LT, McNeill, Gates, and Castillo for us.) That's pretty significant, don't you think? They play base defenses and offenses. How can you honestly gauge yourself against a team when you're not really playing that team and the team you're playing isn't "playing to win?"

Do you think Chargers defense was giving it all they had early on? I don't think that any more than I think the Chargers saw every blitz package the Cowboys are keeping under wraps.

We have this same thing going on at the Chargers' board. "OMG, we can't stop the run!" or, "OMG, we beat the Cowboys by 14!!"

It's glorified practice and if you take the attitude that it's completely, utterly useless to make any predictions based on preseason you will find yourself making a lot fewer completely utterly, useless predictions. Your first-string offense played better than our first-string defense. You know who else's first string offense dominated our first string defense last year? The Cardinals.

Obviously I'm not saying you guys are the Cardinals, but people really gotta learn that preseason is "non-football." It's just a way for players to prepare.
