I just hope Ware can develop into half the player Joey Porter is...

Ware is a nice guy. I don't necessarily want him to make people mad... I want HIM to get MAD at his opponents.... like downright disgusting, bull-charging, fire-breathing, MAD. :banghead:

I rather Ware be obliging Ware than out-of-control Arrington

That's a horrible analogy.

So now everyone that plays with a mean streak is "out of control"?

Or anyone that plays out of control has a mean streak?

Arrington's inability to play within the scheme has nothing to do with any mean streak he may or may not have.

whatever, I just don't get why everyone's pining for Ware to change his attitude, cuz whatever he's doing is working

I didn't say he should change his attitude.

But coming with a straight out lie is the wrong way to back your opinion.

Having a mean streak doesn't mean that player is a "freelancer" like Arrington.

did I say that was the case? no, I just gave an example of what I didn't want Ware to be like, I rather he stay in control of his emotions so that he can stay in the thick of things, instead of letting his emotions get the better of him on the field ala Arrington

btw, to everyone, this mean-streak stuff is overrated

That's exactly what you said wrong. Having a mean streak doesn't mean you aren't in control of your emotions.

No, it isn't.

what is this, "putting words in people's mouth day" or something?

yes it is, you don't need a mean-streak, I can name a few Cowboys defenders who don't play with a mean-streak and are doing quite fine

I didn't put any words in your mouth. Go back and read your posts. You're the one putting words in people's mouth.

And about the second part of your post, again putting words in people's mouth. Where did I say one NEEDS a mean streak? I just said it wasn't over-rated.

Consider yourself owned.

and answer me this Rack, is it not true that because of Arrington's attitude, that he wants to hit people, he gives up on his responsibilities to free-lance, and hits people out of bounds? and sometimes face-masks? so there you go, that was the only thing I was getting at, some people can't play with too much emotion w/o hurting their team, Arrington was my example, so I'd rather Ware stay the way he is

get it yet?

You simply have no understanding of "mean streak" whatsoever.

Hitting players out of bounds makes you a dirty player. Doesn't mean you do or do not have a mean streak.

Wanting to hit players? I'd hope that EVERY ONE OF OUR DEFENSIVE PLAYERS WANT TO HIT SOMEONE WHETHER THEY HAVE A MEAN STREAK OR NOT.

Want an example of a player with a mean streak? Ray Lewis.

Want an example of a former cowboy with a mean streak? Charles Haley.

Are either of them known for hitting players out of bounds or "freelancing"? No.

Freelancing is an example of a selfish player, not a player with a mean streak.

This whole thread is mind-boggling to me.

Merriman is not a Cowboy nor does he play for a rival. Its over a year ago that the Cowboys decided not to draft him.

A: Why is this a Zone topic ?
B: Why are people still sweating Merriman ?
C: Give it a rest. After last season fine, but once pre-season started it should have been laid to rest.

I don't recall Merriman's name even being brought up in this thread.

However, I like when a player has a mean streak, as long as it doesn't lead to penalties or sacrificing the team by being out of position.

or maybe my definition varies from your's

all I'm saying is that Arrington can't harnish his emotions on the field, some players just can't, so I'd rather WAre play well within himself, than beside himself

THANK YOU! Arrington was just my example, but according to Rack, I'm equating that style of play to whoever has or had a mean streak
