It will be interesting to see how the defense shapes up. I like Eberflus a lot but he will be our 4th DC in 6 seasons - Mike Nolan (2020), Dan Quinn (2021-23), Mike Zimmer (2024) and Matt Eberflus to start 2025.

It’s possible our defense struggles at first then learns E’s system better and gets better playing together. Some of these Cowboys defenders who have been with the team 5 or more years have to have their head on a swivel.

My hope is the offense can carry the defense early which is a tall order with a whole new backfield and a rookie G and two other second year OL. And a rookie HC. Not to mention our starting QB coming off a major injury.

This year will challenge this team. We may be a year away from being a playoff team.

You are totally correct. There are too many if and and buts about this team. Booker is being sold as a replacement for Zack Martin. That is a joke. While I do not know this player they are putting a lot of pressure on this young man to be great right off the bat. Anything less will be a disappointment. As Parcells said, put away the anointing oil. The backfield and TE position are totally unknown. I am not a fan of Ferguson. His ceiling is low. Span Ford maybe a better option. Schoon is a semi-bust as a 2nd rd draftee. He is like Mingo. Show me something.
Our defense against the run will be slightly better than last year. Counting on Toia is a pipe dream. The Cowboys always win the SB in the summer because they know hype better than all thee other teams. You are correct, with our schedule and the numerous question marks a winning season may be hard to achieve.

And all this is before the DB squad is inevitably impacted by the injuries that occur during training camp and preseason games.

It is far too early to discuss starters for the regular season. The easy answer is that the starters will be those left standing.

However, it is quite possible that Nobody will be one of the backups in game #1.

It's not fun to talk about it and we don't like to think about it and some may even consider it a curse. As a Cowboys fan I have to consider the reality of injuries due to their enormous impact over the past ten years.

Where is Bland. In every post about our CBs his name is left off. Has he gone fishing? Talking about starting Andrew Bishop. Are we that desperate? Has Bland left the building?
