But my heart tells me it's true.

One poster here, I think it might have been theogt, but I am not 100% sure, posted a stat that said Jenkins QB rating when he was thrown at that year was around 14.5. I know it was under 15.
I got a tip that the Cowboys wanted him really bad. Though I had been pimping Cason like the UA Homer that I am, the day before the Draft I told people that if Jenkins was there at 22 we were going to take him. Draft time and he was there at 22. We took Felix Jones. I gotta tell you, I was shocked.
Then when the Commissioner announced we had traded up I knew it was to make sure we got Jenkins. If you go back and listen to dcfanatic's podcasts, clear back in his rookie year I have been saying he has the best footwork I have seen in forever. You cannot wrong foot this kid. I was as angry as anyone at the non tackle against the Giants.
This year, he was the total package and he will only get better. Great pick by Dallas. Better than Cason. I'm not afraid to admit it.
He had a really good season. Judging talent isn't perfect, but you make the decisions based on the information you have at the time. Based on the information pre-draft, I would not have drafted him 10 times out of 10.Bob Sacamano;3280558 said:How do you like Tracy Porter now?
They're really very different styles of cornerbacks.LatinMind;3281046 said:Jenkins is what Newman was supposed to be. But there's another name on there that's interesting. Antonio cromartie but he's just a bad CB who does nothing.
Actually, very well. Well enough so that they are dangling Cromartie in a trade so they can start him. He played in their Nickel and Dime packages a lot. He has very good coverage skills and plays physical. Going to be all right.tyke1doe;3281036 said:I was a Cason homer too. How's he doing with San Diego anyway?
I've compained about that it seems like forever. Yet last season, and I don't have any stats to back this up, but...it sure appeared to me like Jenkins was not playing off the receiver as much as I've seen the Cowboys do in recent years. Anyone else notice this, or was I just imagining it?Cover 2;3280347 said:Agreed. I know a lot of people complain about our corners playing so far off...
I made the point in a prior post that he's one of the best CBs in the league. In fact, he's one of the best players period. Which sort of proves my point. Wasn't he like 20th on this chart?Mr_Kennedy;3280626 said:Well if Deion being thrown at only once per game was part of what made him great then wouldn't that be the case for Asomugha as well? Asomugha is great because he was thrown at half as many times as the second least frequently targeted CB (and that guy didn't even play 6 games).

You can't put #s on DBs, for the most part. Even hard #s like interceptions can be misleading as to how well someone is playing, let alone #s as guesstimated as these are.
According to whoever compiled the chart, he was thrown at a grand total of 22 times. Just over once per game. Unless he gave up an 80 yd TD on many of those 22 attempts, how did he have a really bad year? :laugh2:jterrell;3281484 said:Asoumugha had a bad year. Really bad by his standards.
His numbers in previous years looked like Revis' this year.
This chart is consistent with performance and also with the team's defensive success. It is more than somewhat accurate.

It's like playing slot machines. I'll never play them because the odds aren't very good. But that doesn't mean you can't win money off one.
He played that route in the Super Bowl stupidly, however (or maybe the coverage called was just stupid). If Peyton doesn't have a brain fart, Porter gives up the game winning touchdown there (or would it have tied the game? can't remember).

He allowed the 4th lowest QB Rating Has he replaced Newman as our #1 CB?
