I know defense is a huge issue, but we do have some nice young players

Looking towards the future, obviously the offense is in incredible shape with Dak, Zeke and the o-line. We do need to look at another elite WR to complement Dez and to take over once he loses a step.

But the defense does have some nice pieces going forward. Demarcus Lawrence, Byron Jones, Morris Claiborne (so happy I can say that) and Jaylon Smith (God willing, if his health permits, he'll become a stud). All those guys could be potential studs.

Then we have guys that are already showing some promise in Maliek Collins and Anthony Brown. Then there's the Randy Gregory factor, but of course I'm not going to trust that for now.

Anyways, D-Law, Jones, Claiborne and Jaylon is a pretty good core to start building the defense around. As bad as we are now, and as much as we need a pass rush, that young foursome could blossom into something pretty good. Our focus and priority should be getting another pass rush specialist opposite Lawrence (Gregory, that's supposed to be you).

I like that there's at least one young stud in each line of the defense.

This defense has some issue but I will say heart is not one of those issue these guys are playing hard and coming up with some key plays. Overall no there are not close to a Denver type defense they have to fight their rears off for everything. They will give up some plays but I also saw several instance when they needed to a big stop someone would step up and make the play.

Believe me I want more out of a defense but I will not question these guys heart and hustle they have displayed thus far. Hope Lawrence coming back after the 9ers game will be able to add more to the pass rush

We just need more talent on the edge. Dlaw will help but we need another one but for this year we have what we have
And I do like the effort even if the results are lacking

Love yourpositive attitude.

Tank Lawrence - good core piece
Byron jones - good core piece
Morris Claiborne - contract year will want much cash 7-10 mill a year from someone. We shouldn't pay that. Will regret it like T Crawfords deal 45 million w 24 mill guaranteed. Ouch
Jaylon Smith - don't know if he's gonna be right. Or when.

So we have two good pieces, a guy we should not re-sign if he wants too much, and a guy recovering from nerve injury. If everything plays out that's good for 4 outta 11 starting positions. If not that's 2 outta 11.

I think Irving is struggling through a groin issue and will get better.

Nacho flashed talent with excelent size/speed in the preseason.

Not near enough. Front seven is sorely lacking and that is where games are won and lost.

Why does everyone consider Jaylon a lock to be a superstar even if he comes back. Don't get me wrong, I am pulling for him but it never works out too good when a rookie misses the entire season. Just look at all the guys we have redshirted over the years. A year off from football is more than most think.

The chances for Lady Luck to smile upon us are surely there for next year to be kind to our defense. We should fortify our DE, CB and LB spots anyhow, just in case Smith isn't able to heal as we would hope. Come what may, the youngsters we currently have in house should make this season an interesting journey to observe. Hopefully, the next offseason will be one that fortifies our needs quite favorably.

Same reason they consider EE a lock. Consensus top 5 talent.

I agree and good call here. I do think he took a "prove it" deal to stay in Dallas and that he could have gotten more elsewhere, based on his physical potential. So my hope is that he's willing to take a hometown discount. That said, a BIG NO to anything in the 10M/yr range.

You left our Sean Lee. He will get better once he is allowed to play his natural position
