I may have to leave the Zone for a Bit

I don't know if I or my family can take this anymore.:bang2:
I'm finding it hard to put it in perspective.
As I'm writing this I'm watching ESPN and their talking to Woodson about the game.

I even regularly check the Gints forum to see about their injuries and whats going on over there.
Thats all I listen to on the radio is sports talk shows talking about the NFL and The Boys.

Thats all I've been doing the last few weeks is thinking about the Dallas Cowboys.
First we have to beat Wash. and we don't ,then OOOOh if we can only beat Indy.
Then Jeeez I hope we win on Thanksgiving so I can enjoy the weekend.

I mean it's starting to affect my work and home life.:banghead:

On game day I'm so stressed that I won't talk to anyone except you guys on the forum.

It's the holiday season ,my daughters going to have a baby in Feb. so were going thru baby showers and holiday stuff, and I just keep thinking and getting nervous over these Damn Cowboys.

When they win I can feel a weight off my shoulders and I'm good for a few days until the next game when they lose I just want to stay in my computer room and talk to you guys .

So I feel if I get off the zone for awhile and not listen to all the hype I just may be able to get my life back together.

If they win this week all I've said previously will be forgotten , but if they lose , Not sure I can make it thru the week no to mention the season.

So I'm signing off for awhile just to get back to reality and to whats important.

I know this rant may sound dumb to most of you but I just had to get it off my chest.
:(

BU----BYE

As Dick Vermil would say, "you gotta learn to handle your own intensity"

Beast is a die-hard Superfan, who is obsessed with his beloved team. If you do any of the following, you might be a Superfan also.

1. Beast spends several hr each day going to cowboy sites on the net, opposing team's sites, ESPN, CNNSI, CBSsportsline, or any other place that might have Cowboys info.

2. Beast listens to sports talk radio during commute time, dont even use the new CD player I got. Will listen through all the crap on ESPN radio just to hear a 3 min discussion on the Boyz.

3. Beast has spent a 3rd world country's GDP on Boyz merchandise. Beast has everything from jerseys, stacks of players cards, lamps, rugs, posters, banners, replica Lombardis, even an XBOX Boyz Controller which I use to build Dynasties on Madden, with ofcourse the Boyz. Have never played with any other team on Madden and never will.

4. Beast is stressed on game day and watches the other teams thinking "which team winning will help the Boyz the most" and roots accordingly.

5. Lastly, if the Cowboys win, life is good for Beast for a week. The air seems fresher, the traffic seems lighter, and work actually is tolerable for the week. If the Boyz losse, it is like a kick to the groin, physically am sick for about 2 days. Beast cannot sleep, traffic is gridlock, and work is pure torture. By mid-week, the cycle repeats itself and Beast hits the net for the next opponent.

Beast girlfriend says it is obsessive-compulsive behavior, Beast calls it being a "Superfan", are you???:starspin

Beast...what do you do in the off season...check your self into a mental instatution? ;)

Beast is my kinda guy.

I'd also add that for those of us who have spouses who sometimes gripe about our football obsession, try getting them to admit that the reason we don't argue about money, sex, the kids, or all the other common issues in marriage is because our stress is siphoned off by football.

Once our mates realize the reason we don't nag and yell at THEM is because all our ire is spent on Tiki Barber, errant refs, ESPN mediots, and positional rivalries then the sooner a true appreciation of the psychological benefits of the game sets in.:)

:laugh1: It's closer to desperation thinking than genius, but it IS true.

I'd also advise a compromise like the one I was forced into this year. NO sportsboarding in the offseason in exchange for more 'compassion' during the regular season.

I did cheat a few days here and there during the draft and a mini camp but pretty much put football on the back burner from the day Dallas' season ended til July 28 when camp went in. I read the football press everyday, and checked out NFL network, but the big time consumer is of course, the beloved Zone, and I just had to cold turkey it.

Was it tough?

YES!!!!

Was it worth it?

Double YES!!!

First off let me say congrats on becoming a grandparent! Secondly, man take all the time you need to handle real world stuff but you have to make time for Gameday!

It's GameDay and I am Back!!!!!!!

Makes me feel good to see that I'm not the only one who has this Intensity problem.

Me being back may not help the Boys win , but me not being here when they DO , is not acceptable.

OK,

"LETS DO IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!":jints:

Dude, I just woke up. From having a dream about the game. It was a one point game and it came down to a Giants field goal from like the five to win it. Cowboys blocked it and won by that one point.

I've been able to work and hang with family, but I've been all over this game for like a month, talking about it at work, even to my wife who hates football.

Today's the day. 4 o'clock can't get here fast enough. :)

At least in my dream they won... Even though it was by one point.
But that was just to say, it's been on my mind too. A lot.
