I miss all of the trick plays that Parcells used to call. I swear we used to see a flea flicker to Terry Glenn once a game. :( Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett = the 2 most vanilla coaches in the game. YUCK

Once a game? That's a bit of an exaggeration. Twice a season maybe. We would need Todd Haley or Sparano back if you want to see flea flickers.

Sparano would run the WildHog with Felix!

Its called arm strength.

Drew Bledsoe had it. Romo doesn't. WR's have to release a little longer with Romo throwing it. Too much of a liability to underthrow the flea flicker.

Thats why you dont see it from average arm QB's.

I am anxiously awaiting the defense of the noodle by the wearers of the Romo lens.....

Tecmo can barely run a vanialla offense and you want him to put some trick plays in the playbook???

once or twice every 8 games maybe, but overall trick plays are not the same as well called games.
Trick plays are usually a cover for a difficiency somewhere else. Do not confuse well called game with a trick play based offense.

How about the misdirection pitch to Barber for negative 5 yards? That's a real good one.

trick plays are for offenses that can't move the ball.

Our problem isn't moving the ball but the penalties that get us backed up. Trick plays won't help us much unless it's to make the officials miss Flo's holding.

I miss the Gurode shotgun snap over Romo's head where Romo gets to freelance and make a long completion or run.......;)

It will happen before year's end. Barber back to Romo who overthrows Austin. :)

Say what you will about his mobility, but Bledsoe had a cannon for an arm. Romo isn't a slouch, but Bledsoe was one of the best arms of the modern era in my opinion.

He still couldn't move out of the way of a corpse in the pocket though :lmao:

Wade's too politically correct to run Jap plays.

I don't have a Romo lens, but I don't think he's got a noodle by any stretch. Nor do I think he has a cannon, or rifle, but its an-average-to-slightly-above-average arm.

I'll take a 70 - 30 run/pass game before I want to see anything too jazzy.

Here's how a 70/30 run to pass ratio would play out with this team:

1st down: Run up the middle for 4 yards.

2nd down: Run to the outside for 3 yard.

3rd down: Incomplete pass.

4th down: Punt.

With each post where you constantly rail on Romo and then mock those who do not you drift further and further towards becoming an the exact mirror of those who you mock.

Those who defend him at all costs are the same as those who mock him at any given chance. Equally ridiculous.

Yeah, remember all those playoff runs the trick plays got us through?

Me either.

I dont rail on him. Just pointing out the obvious to me. Thread was about why we dont run the flea flicker and I told the truth on why.

Due to the routes and the timing of the release, you need the big arm to run the play. If you can potentially underthrow the flea flicker, you wont be throwing it.

Thats why you see Brady throw it to Moss. 70 yard throws. Just throw it out there and let your WR run to it.

Not hating on the "franchise"... he is the man!
