I really don't know what to make of this team

We are the same team we have always been over the last 30 years give or take a few wins every season. The regular season is not the issue here. The elephant in the room is the playoffs. That is where we stink.

The offense is elite

The defense is crap

If the offense stays elite and the defense can get between 15-20 ranked this team will win 8 out of their remaining 10

Im leaning to a 8-8-1 season missing the playoffs

It's easy. It's a team with a really good offense. A playoff offense. A team with pretty good special teams. Special teams you can win with. It's a team with a historically bad defense that pretty much makes the other parts of the team void.

I am glad to see Eberflus finally going with way more man coverage today. If he had done that and stacked the box last week we would have won the game.

It's kind of telling that Trikweze Bridges played a ton of snaps today in place of Diggs and was there was no noticeable dropoff.

Yes, Washington was down to practice squad receivers, but Bridges is a 7th round rookie that was cut by the team that drafted him (Chargers).

I thought he played well . He hits which is a big plus . Did not see Carson at all

When a team is without its top 3 WRs and still puts an honest 22 points on you then its nothing to be proud of
It's really 20. And there was an absolutely horrific bad call on a 4th down to extend a Washington drive that resulted in a Commander TD. I'm not pounding my chest with pride, but it was a solid defensive effort compared to previous weeks

well, cowboys went prevent when we were up 41-15.....they tried avoiding giving up big plays....

and they also scored a TD...I have been razing them all year, but give credit where credit is due.

I get what you are saying but it was actually just 15 before garbage time. Actually 13 since two points were a safety.

It's simple, the offense is good and the defense is really bad. Add in the fact that Dak will excell vs bad teams and ones that are missing many key players like today and you probably have a .500 team. Unfortunately with that type of team you will either have Jerry wasting the GB or other picks trying to get the defense over the hump (FYI it ain't happening) or get a mid round draft pick

I have no idea what this team is 7 games into the season. at 3-3-1, they sound average. the offense is historically good. the defense if it shows up at average then opponents really don't have much chance. but its that they tend to just go into the abyss at times and if we don't literally score every possession, we lose the game.

I can't see us beating denver on the road, on grass since we are not a good grass team to begin with and on the road....Washington was missing three WRs. they were hampered. Denver's offense is not like washington. they will run. they can pass and given its cowboys defense, its 4 downs to get a 1st down.
Well you got a great offense and a horrendous defense.
Average them together and you get well, an average .500 team.
That's about it.

They are what many thought they were, a .500 team.
I didn’t expect a supreme offense and a horrible defense but I did expect mediocrity overall.

If the defense can have a semblance of a pulse like today then the team has a shot

Do it like Jerry does: Try to make money out of it. The rest is not relevant anyways.

Yup, .500 is peratory.
Not good enough for the playoffs,
Not bad enough for a great draft pick.
Looks like the Garrett years all over again.
This is what happens when you are afraid to ever go all in, and want to hang around the rim and be relevant.

Offense has to put up 40+ to relax a little. Defense made a big jump on a few levels (more man, more blitz, better asignment sound football at both DL and LB. James took another step towards Sanford riding pine and getting into his right roll as a backup. EZ finally hit pay dirt. Eberflus changed to preserve his job and went back to what our DBs were drafted to do. Don't get too exited, but we're back to .500, took second place back in the division, and the Giants lost to a last second field goal. Great day, boys! LFG Cowboys! :flagwave:
Dallas played its best game of the year as a team, this offense is special, and the defense looked much better. Good Win. Playing more man really helps these corners and Dallas stopped the run much better as well. Linebacker play was better much better tackling; it was good to see Dallas play some fundamentally sound defense.

What to make of them? Their defense sucks-it is that simple. Even at historic levels of play our offense will not be able to overcome their awfulness!

Well Denver scored 33 against the Giants in the 4th quarter . Cowboys have to contain Courtland Sutton next week for the most part . I think they can go toe to toe with JK Dobbins on the ground .

High altitude big picture:
As long as Jerry is the GM we will never make a deep playoff run.
So I guess just enjoy the entertainment value and realize you ain't seeing a championship anytime soon.

By no means perfect, but they played together and made a few big time stops today. And that's all they need to be with this offense.

Man, almost nothing feels better than a turnover on downs. That's the defenses equivelent to a TD in my book. It really effects the momentum of the game, and for us it's also an almost guaranteed 3 points with Aubrey banging from 60+ all day like he does.

My bet is, at the end of this season, this team will be the enigma that it always has been, in this Century...
