I really don't know what to make of this team

I mean, really good "team". With an historically great offense, incredibly well balanced, with a quarterback playing brilliant football. And a field goal kicker, who is basically the Michael Jordan of field goal kickers. The all time greatest field goal kicker, already! The fans were pissed just a little, that he didn't go for what I think would have been a 70 yarder! So we have the best offense and pretty much the best special teams and a defense that now has a huge chip.on it's shoulder and is only going to get better and better. Bland was awesome today, as was Clowney and everyone else, the whole defense, was sharp. I personally am not worried about the defense. We are 3 plays away from being 6-1. A Lamb catch, a Micah missed tackle from behind etc. And even so, we are a single game out of first place. With all the hair wringing and woes is me articles written about the defense. And that is with new coaching, which always takes time to gel. And many injuries and the loss of a defensive team leader, very dramatically right before the season started. I personally love this team and look forward to them getting monkey off their backs and making many naysayers eat crow.
No, you don't. We have one of the worst D's in the league.

Is the WASH game a portent of things to come, or simply a game vs a mediocre passing QB who runs too much? I have no idea, why do you think you know? Why are you not worried about the D?

It is amazing how our 3-3-1 is entirely fitting for this team. You are right- but almost the exact opposite can be said as well.

I see today as the start of a 10 game season. We will likely need 7 victories to qualify for post season play.

Can we go 7-3. As constructed defensively today? Probably not.
It will be telling when we hit the buzz saw after the Las Vegas game.

It's highly unlikely that our offense can keep playing at such a high level against better teams, but the defense looked quite a bit improved with man coverage last game. That being said, I have a hard time seeing wins against PHI, LAC, KC, DET and MINN. That would put us at 8-8-1 and a fringe playoff spot. The Panthers loss stings quite a bit now.

Offense has to put up 40+ to relax a little. Defense made a big jump on a few levels (more man, more blitz, better asignment sound football at both DL and LB. James took another step towards Sanford riding pine and getting into his right roll as a backup. EZ finally hit pay dirt. Eberflus changed to preserve his job and went back to what our DBs were drafted to do. Don't get too exited, but we're back to .500, took second place back in the division, and the Giants lost to a last second field goal. Great day, boys! LFG Cowboys! :flagwave:
Hell yeah.

With Lamb back, I think we beat the broncos.
