I liked Amari, and he was/is a good player. However, his luke-warm attitude did wear on me a little bit, and his effort seemed sort of an off-and-on sort of thing from game to game.
His effort was top notch when he got to Dallas, after the trade, but that seemed to taper off a little bit as he settled into his role in Dallas. Almost like he had made his point after being traded. He was still good but wasn’t as dominant as when he first got to Dallas. Reality or perception? I’m not sure but that’s what it seemed like.
Now, he is still a really good receiver, and his effort tomorrow will no doubt be good as he is facing Dallas for the first time since being traded. He very well may hurt the Cowboys tomorrow.
But the facts remain that the team who drafted him wanted to move on from him pretty quickly, and the second team that he played for also wanted to move on from him as well, and then his third team has already tried to trade him away for another WR.
That is anything but typical for a good WR, and it almost never ever happens. There’s a reason for that, but it is speculation as to why it has happened. But it is clear that it wasn’t just the Raiders being the Raiders. There is something about him and his salary that teams are deciding he just isn’t worth it.
Anyway… Cooper is better than Gallop/Cooks and probably better than any other Dallas receiver not named Lamb… and teams are still wanting to move on. Attitude? Contract? Or both? We just don’t know.
