I still miss John Madden

So many great memories of games called by Madden.

For fans outside the Dallas area, he was our "voice of the Cowboys", because they would always be in the late afternoon game the entire nation would see. When I hear John Madden I immediately remember him talking about guys like Nate Newton, Erik Williams, Moose Johnston, and Bill Bates.

You know, Madden's type of guys. We will never have an announcer like him again. Rest in peace, John.

Now THERE's a name to shake the origins of our NFL. John Facenda, the Voice of Doom. If any of you have not watched one of the older game videos Facenda narrates, you haven't lived. The guy quoted Kipling and Tennyson, and may be the first one to use the term "frozen tundra" as a dramatic metaphor for a cold NFL surface. (Lamboooooow Feeeeld).
Great stuff, folks.

His voice is legendary.
